2008 Chevy regular cab 4.3 v6 145K miles

fishonfishon Posts: 984 Officer
Looking to buy my daughter a truck for her Birthday. I am looking at this truck tomorrow. Yes, a lot of highway miles. If it is appealing to me the seller is OK with me taking it to my serviceman which I respect a lot. I do believe the truck to be a 9.5 of 10 in appearence, but these type miles make me nervous. He is asking $9,300. This seems high, but have you shopped used or new trucks recently? Blue book is $7,500. But has up grade on rims and new 20 inch tires. If it is michanically sound, is $8,000 to much or to little to offer? Thanks for your constructive reply on the topic. Tomm

Man oh man, I would never, under any circumstances "buy my daughter a truck" w/o her explicit approval.

What "is appealing to me" is seldom what a young woman thinks is "a 9.5 of 10 in appearance".

What you're considering would "make me nervous".

Suggest that you take your daughter truck shopping for her Birthday. She does actually want a truck right?

This would be her dream truck, she is a true Imperial Polk County truck girl. Her mom thinks it is perfect, too! Same color and make of her grandfathers truck, that she likes. I would be nervous about getting her anything but a truck. She would like a monster truck. She has no idea she is getting a vehicle, as we have told her not to exspect an auto. I like the idea of the regular cab and small motor. Thanks.

Well, if she has her heart set on cloning her Grandpa's truck you're kind of stuck then.

Just don't let on about that to the seller.

Bring it to your trusted mechanic for his/her opinion....but offering much more than the blue book value just for rims and tires is a no no

Stick shift? I had that motor and auto in a 98. **** died at 120k miles. I vowed never again Chevy. But the motor was sporty. Drank gas tho ... But it's a first truck for her, knowing most kids, they will likely want a different one in a few years ...

those miles would make me nervous on the 4.3 , but not the 4.8 or 5.3.
