What a crappy day.
Started halfway inside , Been studying the Charts for a new spot for a week or so, got a Plan.
**** around the Mangrove point and there sat a Guide boat exactly when I wanted to try on that Tide, Grandpaw and 2 young girls all settled in.
Hit plan B , swung into a little creek to a small cove, real shallow mud to 8 inches deep. I wanted to catch a mullet or 2 for chunk bait back in MY new spot the Guide was sittin in, figgred he'd leave soon.
While I was poling for the mullet I noticed several Redfish in tight.Water temps at 64 deg. figure their frozen and not gonna bite.
Down with the cast net and up with the rod. Caught 2 in mud. Finally got me a big mullet as well.
The boat was still sitting there as I went by..So I guess I was right...it's a good spot. I'll be back.
NE winds were blowing hard . Water was junk stirred up and the bays were dried out with that wind.
So bad on one point I had to jump out and pull it around the point into Palm bay...made it 200 yards with the wind and found 4 inches of water...now I had to pushpole back into the wind to get back inside that same point.
What a mess I fished for 2 hours and spent 2 hours looking at mud flats and oyster bars high and dry for yards.
2 reds weren't bad but I sure worked after that.
Next weekend the Tide is perfect for another new spot I want to try...I'll keep you posted.
