The Calusa Blueway Paddling Festival is drawing near. Below is the information on the weekends events. It will be a great time for all paddlers, new and veterans alike.

Saturday, Nov. 5
Calusa Blueway Fishing Tournament
Calusa Blueway Fishing Tournament for anglers in kayaks, canoes and Stand-Up Paddleboards happens on Lee County waterways with digital weigh-in and award ceremony at Matlacha Park. Winner gets a Hobie Pro Angler kayak from Estero River Outfitters valued at more than $3,000. Coordinated by Florida Society for Ethical Ecotourism.
1:30 p.m. weigh-in, 3 p.m. awards at Matlacha Park, 4577 Pine Island Road NW, Matlacha, FL 33993. Note: Captain’s meeting is Friday, Nov. 4, at Angler’s Inn, Matlacha.

Anglers will get something that let’s them go have food at Bluegrass for a Blueway & Taste of Matlacha, which is happening in the same park at the same time as the weigh-in. Details below.

Bluegrass for a Blueway & Taste of Matlacha
Join us for an afternoon in the park with live music from Krazy Fingers band and a fundraiser for the Pine Island Food Pantry that features "tastes" from area restaurants, including Bert's Bar & Grill, Miceli's Restaurant, Olde Fish House, Perfect Cup and the Sandy Hook. Bring a chair or picnic blanket. Matlacha Civic Association, Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, and area businesses and personalities will be there. Come kayak, canoe or Stand-Up Paddleboard for free courtesy of Florida Paddle Sports, which is offering demos.
