Weather finally cooperated and I went out with Jeff Jacobs and his son Korey. Seas were flat so we ran out at 30 kts. Stopped at City Services to look for AJs but there was no current so we quickly put out the spread and headed east. Had a double at 290 ft. Not long after had another double but both came off. Kept heading east and got two more around 490 ft. Total for the day was 4 Mahi and one Bonita.

Congrats on the catch and thanks for info. You had better luck with your Hondas than mine....lost oil pressure at the last set of buoys and had to limp on back home. Almost cried as it was such a nice day and I've been wanting to get offshore for weeks.

Dumb question....why would the lack of current hinder the fishing? I would think that on a deep drop like City Svc that slow/no current would help. Thanks in advance.

I have always had better luck with a little current. I am not sure if it is because it allows us to move around the area or what. We did loose two jigs in two attempts that were cut off on the drop... so maybe the just too may toothy critters.

Nice job- we were out in that same area- but couldn't find any dolphin. Did get a sailfish to bite. Thanks for the report.
