I continue to ask a simple question that everyone avoids. Simply, what level of funding is needed to support an army so we can take the fight to "them," fighting on their turf, and not have to have the fight brought to us? I have waited for a long time for a cogent answer. I will continue to wait, I suspect.

WE seems to forget how the simply 9/11 Hijackers brought the fight to us. Or does he just try to deny the very low "level of finding" they had?

The "level of funding" those terrorists needed was scarcely more than the cost of airline tickets & box cutters.

Bush's Crusade Against Islam/Endless War still throws multi-million dollar weapons at targets that are virtually worthless & may actually have increased radical Muslim resolve.

The U.S Military Industrial Complex is still cashing in big time.

Without these facts WE will still have to wait "for a long time for a cogent answer".

Your wait is over my friend.
If THEY can kill a couple Thousand Americans for 100 Grand with box cutters , We can put Hit Squads of locals all over the Middle East for a couple Billion. That's about 1 Carrier Battle Group.
No Benifits or Health plans either...Non Union. Scab Employees on the cheap.
Kinda like Saddam did with the Sucide bombers in Gaza.
    Let's roll..

Cool.....so when the world is on fire, as the middle east is right now, and we have many more millions of displaced refugees at our doorstep, how many refugees will you be welcoming into your home?
  • ZERO.
    Not America's problem.
I can see we've done real well keeping peace in the Mid east..Who should we attack in the name of peace next ?
If we walk away in 20 years most of the Terrorist groups will forget about us , as far as peace in their Lands , That's up to them.

crazy ain't it, we have military bases on every continent with over 500 throughout the world including missile silos plus cia stations throughout the world with drone launch/control sites
so much for the kinder gentler nation
we wouldn't have so many refugees on our doorsteps if we'd stop dropping bombs on their homes or causing insurrections in their countries, we have done more to sow strife and conflict in the world since the ending of world war two than any other nation and except for a few short periods of time have been in a state of perpetual war either directly or through proxy
our military has become the security force of the corporations that run the government and our tax dollars are involved in a shell game to support it eventually making their way to the companies that profit off the endless war

You are correct. You didn't answer the question in a cogent manner, in #4. Stand by. You will learn, maybe.

    Meantime, I continue to wait.

There is no way to know the answer to that question. Don't you realize that?

There is a way to know what weapons the Army the doesn't want because they aren't useful ... ask them ... they keep telling Congress "we don't need that " but the pork barrel continues to roll

I would guess that the current level of funding is more than sufficient, since we've done just that for the last 13 years, and we haven't been invaded.

I would start by cutting the military budget in half and become more isolationist. Half the reason we have all these terrorists is because we volunteered to be the world's policeman charging off all over the world fighting and staring wars on behalf of others.

I would then adjust the budget from that point.

To a point someone made earlier, I read a report that an unknown sniper is terrorizing ISIS and has taken out three of their senior leaders in their home base. It is speculated the sniper is a Syrian.

What ever that amount is, we have already spent it.

You're confused about who has the ability to walk on water.
There are no refugees on our door step, Mexicans and Canadians are not refugees.

i'd agree with you, but it wasn't on behalf of others
we fight wars to either get resources, maintain our access/control to resources, or deny other countries access to resources

Like it or not it is the CORRECT answer

You are correct but it is always sold to the public as being altruistic, i.e. "helping our friends or keeping the world safe". We should close 90% of our foreign military bases and tell our "allies" they are responsible for their own security.

You all should read Jill Stein's platform. She is a 3rd party candidate running for President.

NONE, send them back, not our problem.
It is not the responsibility of the United States to solve the problems of other countries.

Some folks inherit star spangled eyes
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask 'em, "How much should we give?"
Ooh, they only answer "More! More! More!"
