Shrimping with out a boat

Hi, I'm new to the area and would like to try my hand at shrimping. I sold my pontoon before moving down here and only have an Ocean Kayak Prowler 13. Is it possible to shrimp from a kayak or are there places you can go and dip for them from land or pier? Thanks!

Titusville pier or the New Smyrna fishing pier under SR 44 are your best bests.

If you are near Melbourne, the Eau Gallie bridge can be good some years . March through June are the best times to shrimp. Good luck!

Any relief bridge will bring shrimp up to the lights when they are running. As for doing it from a kayak, not a good plan. You need gear that a kayak cannot accommodate due to size and limit of movement. You are better off on the bridge with your back against the wind. Set up lights, get your dip net or cast net ready and wait for the red eyes to come. The cold fronts get them moving, but you have to pay close attention to the tides.

Thanks everybody for the quick replies!! Great support on this board. I will take your advice Gatorhook and not try it from a kayak. I live in the Orlando/Winter Park area but will check out the locations Specialist suggested. You guys rock, I love this site!:)
