On christmas eve my boyfriend and I decided to have a friendly bass fishing competition against each other. We both are receivers of Mystery Tackle Box. We could only catch fish on lures in the MTB we received for December. The morning started out slow. For about the first hour in a half we did not get a bite. We both were throwing a jerk bait at the time and with no bites I decided to change it up. I peddled my kayak about 75 yards to a different spot. I decided to pitch a Omega Jig with a Gambler BB cricket as a trailer. I flipped it into a drainage pipe and worked it out. I saw a boil come to the surface and thought "Dang there goes one." Before I know it I felt a bump on the end of my rod and I set the hook! A nice five pound large mouth was on the board for me. As the day went on my boyfriend and I were going back and forth with catches, nothing to big but the bass were definitely eating. It gets around two o clock and its getting time to where we need to head back in. My boyfriend had successfully caught a bass on every bait that was in the mystery tackle box. I had crossed out all the baits but one, a Lucky Craft Flash Minnow. The same bait we started out throwing for the morning with no luck. Where we launched the kayaks there are two drainage pipes parallel with each other. I knew this was going to be my last cast for the day. I tossed the lure in-between the pipes and started slowly twitching it. As soon as the lure came across the face of one of the pipes and my rod just went straight down. I knew right then this bass was a big one! This bass gave me a fight I will never forget. It was one of those bass that has your heart racing and has you saying, "please don't break off, please don't break off." Thankfully I was able to net her! As I lip her and pull her out of the net I am filled with joy and excitement! A seven pound large mouth to end the day! That will be a christmas eve I never forget. Hope all of you anglers had a Meryy Christmas and a Happy New Year! Tight Lines!
