Throughout the many places I have lived in the south it is always pronounced Etlanta.
I lived nearby and always heard it as "Alanna"
headquarters of Cocola

Miami used to be called My am uh. Anyway, in Key West we have a smaller version of a New Orleans type funeral procession. Left over from the Bahamian culture. The parade had to go over Solares Hill, the highest point in Key West. Elevation 18'.

When living and growing up in Broward County the long-time residents usually called it My am uh.
Good to hear about the Key West tradition. Never saw it in person.

Sounds like a joke but I used to buy the cheapest crap wine I could find to cook with because I didn't think it mattered. But it really does make a difference to use wine that you'd be happy to drink.
Back to the subject, here's a second-line tribute to Allen Toussaint from a couple of weeks ago. At the service Boz Scaggs, Jimmy Buffett, and Elvis Costello were some of the musicians that spoke and played tunes. At the beginning you can see Dr. John and Elvis leaving the building. Cyril Neville was one of the pallbearers. The celebratory music starts at about 7:00 (Oh, Didn't He Ramble I believe). At 11:00 the bald white dude dancing in front of Trombone Shorty and Big Sam is the Mayor of New Orleans.

My father used to go to Nawlins a few times a year just to go to Pete's club and hear him play.

Is it streetcar or trolley?
Sorry if the spelling offends you.
(Better you should not hear the actual pronunciations.)
Actually, in 40-some years never thought that much about it.
Was just a normal southin thang.

Justin Wilson pronounced New Orleans in four syllables, but that's not common.
I lived nearby and always heard it as "Alanna"
headquarters of Cocola

Justin Wilson was great.
Always looked forward to his cooking program . . .
"that am gonna be sooo good."
He always started with a humorous story before
he started.
Plus he always had a jug under the counter.

Probably the best cooking tip I have ever learned came from Justin Wilson: "don't cook with a wine that you wouldn't drink."
I occasionally even add it to the food sometimes.
:wink
