Lake O stage management

bmoodybmoody Posts: 1,004 Officer
There are a couple of items on the WRAC agenda tomorrow that might be interesting, or even educational, for anyone interested/concerned about how stages (water levels) are managed in Lake Okeechobee.

Review the agenda here: http://my.sfwmd.gov/webapps/publicMeetings/viewFile/6451http://my.sfwmd.gov/webapps/publicMeetings/viewFile/6451

I've participated in the simulation; it is harder than you think to meet the statutory requirements and your personal preferences.

From my point of view the over riding factor is that managers are simply scared to death that the old dike might fail..... Way back in 1928 a dike failure killed hundreds and hundreds of farm workers.
