COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In addition to a one-game suspension, Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett will also lose his scholarship for a term as part of his discipline for his arrest during the bye week, Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer said Monday.
Meyer said he reviewed the facts from the citation for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and backing without safety. He was stopped at a Columbus police checkpoint early Saturday morning.
I found this interesting in Meyer's weekly presser. In all fairness it is reported JT lost his summer quarter scholarship and Meyer himself stated in the presser that JT can earn it back, which I suspect he will.

Your defense of JT in this situation is WAY worse than anything I ever defended Jameis for.
As someone who has unfortunately sat in multiple funerals for friends who have passed due to idiotic decisions to get behind the wheel, I'm a bit more one sided in this debate. I thought PJ Williams should've sat out the rest of the year after his crap although he wasn't cited (whatever). He made a decision that could've cost him his life and/or the life of others.
I'm quite adamant about it myself. I love to party and have a good time more than most, however I always seem to be able to make a decision before I go out and have more than 3-4 drinks. Why can't some of these kids? They have the resources! Multiple schools (most P5) have programs where the football players can call for a free ride home. Every school has resources for an easy ride home. FSU has the Night Nole (bus that loops around the bars, apartment complexes etc) they have gotcha cabs (golf carts that do the same thing), you can park overnight at ANY bar if you ask the staff an take a cab/uber.
C'mon.
Because he does not want too let his homies drive his new ride. :driver:
Buckeyes fans be warned, the chinless wonder will leave your program and it's integrity in shambles. See uf gators...... Corch Irvin Meyers is an unethical snake and OSU will learn that lesson soon enough. Just take and objective look at his years at uf. That's what you'll get as well. Great coach with zero ethics and zero loyalty. He will be gone in less than 5 years guaranteed. I guess OSU never learns. The last coach was a criminal as well. Remember that guy?

Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett’s OVI case was resolved this morning with a Franklin County judge suspending his license for 180 days.
Municipal Court Judge H. William Pollitt Jr. also imposed a $400 fine and ordered Barrett to complete a three-day alcohol education program.
In court, Barrett made a brief statement in which he apologized to "the Ohio State football program and Buckeye Nation."
Barrett, 20, pleaded guilty at his arraignment to a misdemeanor counts of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The charges were brought against him by Columbus police after he was stopped while driving an SUV near a campus-area sobriety checkpoint on Halloween morning.
An improper backing charge was dismissed today as part of his plea. Barrett will be allowed to drive to school and football-related activities.
“I see an excellent young man who made a horrible mistake and is 100 percent owning up to it,” Barrett’s attorney Phil Templeton told The Dispatch. “He is taking full responsibility.

“I know he is horribly embarrassed, and he is very concerned with how this has affected those close to him, starting with his family, his teammates, his coaches, and of course the Ohio State fans. He knows he is in a pressure cooker program, and he is really embarrassed for all the negative attention this has brought to the team.”
He agreed to a breathalyzer test that measured his blood-alcohol level at 0.099 percent, police said. In Ohio, it’s illegal for anyone to drive with a level of 0.08 percent or above.

Drivers under 21 can be cited if they are measured at 0.02 percent, but police did not bring that charge against Barrett.
Within hours of the Oct. 31 citation, Coach Urban Meyer suspended Barrett for OSU’s game against Minnesota, which the Buckeyes won 28-14 with Cardale Jones at quarterback. Barrett is expected to return as starting quarterback on Saturday when the Buckeyes play at Illinois.
Being the primary suspect in a **** and yelling a profane gesture on campus #FHRITP = same punishment as getting caught driving while drunk on Halloween, got it.

Whatever you say, but JT has never had a girl get off his motor bike and show up at a hospital getting a **** kit done.
If you can't see the difference between the two players you must be blind.
True... some cleatchaser has been shooting blanks for 2 years and milking the judicial system looking for a payday versus an arrest, admission and court ruled penalty.
Blinders have been in play since the drunk driving kid got caught and rules manipulated so he only had to miss one meaningless game instead of two. Who does Urban play next week? :Popcorn
One was also suspended for two weeks, had their drivers license suspended, fined $400, sentenced 3 day class, had his scholarship revoked and undoubtedly faced unpublished team consequences after taking full and complete responsibility for his actions (he was helping a highly intoxicated friend home who showed up at his apartment) by pleading guilty.
The other destroyed evidence and refused to talk.
You are right, one person owned it and the other ran from it.

Let's not get crazy. But the fact that he will be the starting QB for the nations 3rd ranked team 2 weeks after this happened gives this story legs.
