Seriously though, I can't believe you are brushing this off.
The best player on a team with NC hopes just got a DUI, and not an .02 mouth wash DUI.
Regarding the suspension, I hope you will agree the spirit of the rule was a two game suspension, no?
Also, it is shocking that tOSU looks at being cited with underage drinking and getting a DUI the same thing. The fact that he was drinking is no shock, college kids drink and smoke weed. Even though you like to say they dont at tOSU. So the underage part of the DUI is really moot to me. But the team leader and starting QB just got a DUI and he will miss one game. Great message.
Urban is showing the team and the entire nation the same thing he did at UF. If you are good enough, we will find a way around the rules. He is quick to go above and beyond document discipline is you are a soso player. I was always at least honest about this. You seem to have your head in the sand on this one.
This does not surprise me, but you will tell anyone who will listen how tOSU is different.
Well what? You think OSU does not know the difference between two week and two game? What if it happened in the off season? In the spring? You think the suspension would carry over in to the season? The rule is clear - two week.
You are wrong. Look at how previous coaches have handled OMVI's at Ohio State. In fact there was a dispatch (subscription required) article I've seen mentioned that laid out JT did not need to get suspended under OSU rules at all.
I don't expect you to read or understand any of this though since you have proved to lazy to even read the first 3 sentences of the thread. You obviously have no clue what is going on here.
I have never eaten a booger in my entire life. -Jim Harbaugh
I think he should be suspended for the rest of his life. Or until after November 28th.
As a side note, one of the terrible things about the OMVI laws are the fact they are essentially life sentences - in Ohio at least. If you get 1 it remains part of your record forever and you can not expunge or getting it removed, ever. OMVI is actually a worse conviction then some felonies in Ohio, since you can expunge some felony convictions.

You mad? I could call you names too but no need. You showing your hand for all to see.
You mad? I could call you names too but no need. You showing your hand for all to see.
So DUI is no big deal at tOSU.
Got it.
Mad about what? Discussing sports with you is like talking to my 5 year old. Things must be said over and over and over before you understand. It's pretty pointless.
OMVI is obviously a big deal at OSU. He received a two week suspension that could possibly go longer. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Jones gets the start the rest of the season.

More insults.
What do YOU think should be done as punishment?
Suspended rest of the season?
I would like to get your answer before tOSU gives theirs.
I'm not sure of the circumstances. I don't have all of the facts.
I strongly oppose most all DUI laws.
Did he hurt anyone? Did he cause an accident? Is anyone accusing him of property damage or personal injury? No? What is the problem then?
But those aren't "because it's an OSU QB" it's because I don't like "victimless crimes".
Because you are our resi buckeye fan and I would like your opinion before the school you defend/root for gives their decision.
I will deduce you feel the 2 week suspension and 1 game is sufficient.
You come across as a "the law is the law" kind of guy though, so I am a lil surprised. Maybe it's just because it's tOSU' QB in trouble now. Only you can answer that.
Prepare to be raked over the coals for the above, btw.
However I agree DUI are too strict. You are not drunk at .08.
Your defense of JT in this situation is WAY worse than anything I ever defended Jameis for.
As someone who has unfortunately sat in multiple funerals for friends who have passed due to idiotic decisions to get behind the wheel, I'm a bit more one sided in this debate. I thought PJ Williams should've sat out the rest of the year after his crap although he wasn't cited (whatever). He made a decision that could've cost him his life and/or the life of others.
I'm quite adamant about it myself. I love to party and have a good time more than most, however I always seem to be able to make a decision before I go out and have more than 3-4 drinks. Why can't some of these kids? They have the resources! Multiple schools (most P5) have programs where the football players can call for a free ride home. Every school has resources for an easy ride home. FSU has the Night Nole (bus that loops around the bars, apartment complexes etc) they have gotcha cabs (golf carts that do the same thing), you can park overnight at ANY bar if you ask the staff an take a cab/uber.
Your defense of JJ in this situation is WAY worse than anything I ever defended Jameis for.
So, you are going to accuse me of being a hypocrite and not provide anything of substance to support your claim?
You then go on a rant about how terrible OMVI is while admitting you have a bias opinion because you attended a funeral all the while claiming OMVI is worse than ****, stealing and doing over $4,000 worth of private property damage with a gun.
Amazing.
Winston's confirmed victims include but are not limited to; a landlord, a supermarket, a fast food restaurant.
Can you name a single victim of JT's actions? Please.

LOL you mentioned the soda in the ketchup cups thing again.
Meanwhile, your star starting QB dodged a DUI because he is a football player (happens everywhere) and then your coach has a foot in his mouth due to the Jameis comments and the book tour.
You have zero ground to stand on.
He could've easily taken the life of himself or someone else, don't be so dense.
I'd take the victims of Publix, BK and a landlord that didn't press charges over what could've happened.
Zimm, you are three feet from death every time you drive down the road.
You can not legislate stupidity. In a free society people are responsible for their actual actions, not their "what could've happened's". That's just the way it is.
You still have not given one victim of any crime JT has been or is currently accused of. I'm also not sure why you are stating he dodged a DUI, last I heard his court appearance is Friday morning and he in fact is charged with OMVI and a freely eluding charge from ducking the check point.
I have never eaten a booger in my entire life. -Jim Harbaugh
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In addition to a one-game suspension, Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett will also lose his scholarship for a term as part of his discipline for his arrest during the bye week, Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer said Monday.
Meyer said he reviewed the facts from the citation for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and backing without safety. He was stopped at a Columbus police checkpoint early Saturday morning.

Please show the hypocrisy. Pretty please.
I've searched the forums and by and large I was not posting much during Winston's crab legs fiasco, but this is what I was able to find.
From the 'suspended from the baseball team' thread:
In response to you stating you were in Gainesville
http://forums.floridasportsman.com/showthread.php?169391-Winston-suspended-whole-game-now&highlight=crab+legs+winston
My only post in the entire thread.
Comparing JT to Winston is laughable.
JT - OMVI
Winston - BB Gun, main suspect in ****, stealing soda and crab legs, FHRITP and lord only knows what else.
So, if you are going to call someone a hypocrite it is only fitting you include some evidence.

Team rules should be followed. Team discipline should be consistent.
Two weeks is in the code of conduct book provided by the school to the student athlete. Two week is the suspension JT is facing.
I see no problem, especially for a "crime" with no victim.
