Any truth to this buckeye??
Earlier this week Urban Meyer said multiple times that he would allow his players to have the weekend off, trusting them to see their families, continue to work out, and stay out of trouble.
Unfortunately for Meyer, and the Ohio State Buckeyes, the latter already was violated, as sources confirmed to Bucknuts that QB J.T. Barrett was arrested for operating a vehicle while impaired just north of campus, early Saturday morning.
Rumors of the incident matriculated around the interwebs earlier today and the story was first published by 11W, but from what 247Sports was told, Barrett blew just over the legal limit of 0.08 BAC after being pulled over by Columbus Police.
Barrett was reportedly released to teammate Cardale Jones, who will likely now be the starting quarterback for OSU for at least the Minnesota game following this week's bye week.
We'll continue to provide details for this report as they come, as well as details on what this could mean for OSU on the football field moving forward.

Confirmed.
Knucklehead move, but on campus at Halloween is a bit crazy. Not surprised he had a nip or two to drink. Am surprised he was dumb enough to drive. Cool thing is he called Cardale to bail him out - no animosity there.
Probably suspended for 2 games minimum, not sure if the BYE week will count as one or not:
IV. PROCEDURES FOLLOWING A POSITIVE DRUG TEST FOR DRUGS OF ABUSE AND/OR SUBSTANCE ABUSE OCCURRENCE
A. First Positive
6. The student athlete who has an alcohol/substance abuse occurrence (DUI, underage possession, etc.) will be subject to more stringent alcohol testing as part of their management plan. Any positive test for alcohol in these student athletes who are under 21 will be deemed a second positive in the program.
B. Second Positive
1. The management team will be informed of the second positive drug test and/or substance abuse occurrence.
2. The student-athlete will be re-evaluated by the intervention coordinator and a substance abuse counselor approved by the Department of Athletics to determine subsequent treatment options.
3. The student-athlete will meet with the management team to discuss any recommended changes to the previous plan that was in place.
4. The student-athlete will be subject to a two-week suspension from all competition at the earliest available time. If the student athlete competes in multiple sports, the suspension will be served in the sport that the positive tests occurred. If the positive tests occurred in more than one sport, the suspension will be served at the earliest available time.
5. Re-instatement to the team will be considered by the Athletic Director or his/her designee in consultation with the management team.
6. The student-athlete will be subject to reasonable cause testing.

ESPiN is reporting Gene Smith is leaving the suspension up to Meyer alone. Will be interesting how he handles this.

Ohio State announced the decision from Urban Meyer on Saturday morning. Here's the full statement from Ohio State:
Ohio State University student-athlete J.T. Barrett was cited by Columbus police Saturday morning at a campus area check point with a misdemeanor offense of OVI. Barrett has been suspended by head coach Urban Meyer from playing in Ohio State's game against Minnesota on Nov. 7.
Barrett is a redshirt sophomore who made his first start of the season against Rutgers last week after starting all 12 regular-season games a year ago. Cardale Jones started the first seven games for the Buckeyes this season and will slide back into that role against the Golden Gophers.
Ohio State is on its only bye week of the season. Meyer gave the players off on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Underage DUI/OVI Offenses
Underage DUI / OVI Cases In Columbus And Central Ohio
Individuals under 21 charged with drunk driving offenses in Ohio face some different rules than individuals over 21. While the blood alcohol limit for people 21 and over is .08, the limit for people under 21 is .02; one-fourth as much

The difference here is the school that is supposably above this.
If this was a chitty player he would be kicked of the team to prove a point. BUT we are talking about tOSU's only hope of repeating. So a slap on the wrist one gamer is in place. Awesome to see the mighty president cower to Urban. lol
What time was he popped? Out late the night before the game? Urban had a curfew for all players while at UF the night before games, it was something like 10pm. So not only was JT breaking the law he was ignoring team rules. Funny that has not been mentioned. Then to call and wake up your back up in the middle of the night to come get you? You cant make this stuff up.
****............that's the equivalent of about one tall boy. I realize it's against the law drink under 21, but so is crossing the highway at a non intersection.
I was probably a junior in high school when the law was changed to include an under age limit and I recall our civics teacher bringing in a portable Breathalyzer and having a girl gargle mouth wash and then blow just to prove a point. She blew well over the .1 21+ legal limit at the time.
The entire zero tolerance culture has gotten out of hand in my opinion.

We are on a BYE week this week DumDum, so he wasn't out late before the game, in fact Meyer gave the team the weekend off with out restrictions. Try to keep up.
He received a two week suspension which includes the BYE week.
You are comparing a 20 year old drinking to an FSU kid ***** slapping a girl in a bar or a Gator player shooting at his pregnant girlfriend. Pretty big differences there sports fan.
Nice try though.

You are an individual. What you consume may effect you differently then it effects others.
Just for example JT by law has the exact same legal limits as a 90 pound 17 year old cheerleader in high school. Obviously it would take more alcohol to impair him then her - would you not agree? On the flip side JT is allowed only 1/4 the limit of alcohol a 100 pound 21 year old cheerleader is.
DUI or OMVI alone are victimless crimes.

10-4. He was not breaking team rules only the law.
Funny who quick your tune changes when it's tOSU.
:awesome
Brandon Spikes suspension will no longer be Urban's biggest joke of a suspension. (look that gem up)
Suspended on a bye week? Read that out loud and try and not laugh.
Read some of your posts about how much of a joke the lack of football suspension Jameis received because he was suspended from the baseball team only. How he was the face of FSU and sould have been suspended, yada, yada, yada.
Drinking and driving > "stealing" crab legs.
Nothing to see here...
Plowing through a crowd is a crime with victims, sober or not.
There are no reports at all that JT was driving recklessly. In fact everything seems to indicate he was driving fine and came upon a DUI check point and turned down a side street to avoid it, like any one of us would do.
It also is not clear if he blew over the 21+ year old .08 limit or the less than 21 year old limit of .02.

Do you not read anything? I posted the team rule regarding alcohol.
I have never eaten a booger in my entire life. -Jim Harbaugh
It is a two week suspension, it just happens that OSU is on a BYE week this week, I have no doubt that if OSU was playing today he would be benched today and next week. The rules I posted clearly state that the punishment comes from the team which is in season - I'm sure FSU has a similar policy.

Stand by on the car.
I read the spin bs you posted.
Being cited for under age drinking or failing a DT and getting a DUI underage are two totally different things.
You should stop.
The car he was in is a rumor on message boards at this point.
It will become public record soon.
If he was really in a new explorer w/ dealer tags this story will be huge.
