wth is it with so many kids these days having nut allergies? I mean tons. Used to be one kid the whole school was allergic to pnuts. Now, every kid is either tree nuts, pnuts, both. And lactose "intolerant"
    Very bizarre.

Little Jimmy eats a one pound bag of peanut M&Ms.
Washes it down with a half gallon of chocolate milk.
Plays videos games and twitches for 6 hours.
Little Jimmy complains to parents about not feeling well.
Parents take kid to nearest pediatric 24 hour urgent care/bounce house.
Nurse practitioner/bounce house attendant goes through checklist.
Has little Jimmy had any dairy? Yes
Has little Jimmy eaten any peanuts lately? Yes
Little Jimmy is lactose intolerant, and has peanut allergies.
Parents switch Little Jimmy to regular M&Ms and Mountain Dew.

    ha, no not that simple.

    Ex.
My boy eats a grain of a walnut or pecan..........throat swells up can't breath ambulance called (now we have his needle)
Neighbor girl (same age) doubles over in pain with a sip of milk. Eats a bite of pbutter cookie,,,,,,,,,,hives and diff breathing.

These are just two on our block. We know of 3 others in our "circle" and the others at school

    Just seems sooo odd.
Oh and our boy grew up on "organic" largely.
I have a much bigger and more powerful button

About 25 years ago I had a conversation with a chemist from a chemical company (Rohm & Hass) about chemical fertilizers and pesticides that his company produced many of.

I asked if they were really detrimental to humans....and his reply was ...Of course they are....they are inside what you eat and there is no getting them out!

I was rather shocked at his extremely candid reply.....after all...he just got done telling me that the stuff he makes either kills or shortens peoples lives.

He then went on to tell me that WITHOUT these chemicals...it would be impossible to feed the population of the world as soils would get depleted of nutrients and insects would decimate the majority of the crops.

    Ok...

Other than because "you said so".....can you give an explanation about your diametrically opposing statement of what a scientist who's job was specific in the area said?

Don't eat anything white. White sugar, flour, white potatoes, rice, etc. Watch the pounds melt away and see how much better you will feel.

If it makes you feel good, that's awesome. But there's no evidence that eating "organic" does you any good and ample evidence that much of the food sold as organic doesn't even meet the loose definition established by the USDA. On the other hand, much like those that do cross-fit and own Yeti coolers, talking about it gives off an air of superiority that may bolster low self esteem.....so that's a positive result.

For a glimpse at the BS surrounding this latest dietary fad, click here - https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/five-myths-about-organic-food/2014/06/20/43d23f14-f566-11e3-a3a5-42be35962a52_story.html

    air of superiority ?

    yea....I'm getting that..

    Feed them what? Soylent Green?

Sure, we can feed every barefoot tribe on the planet.

But only if everyone lives like primitive subsistance farmers.

Sorry to say, we have no curiosity about living a 3rd-world lifestyle.

If you really find it interesting, go right ahead ... enjoy your "pure" life.

But forget about antibiotics ... and bug spray ... and soap ... and a hot shower.

I use a local veggie stand the sells organic vegetables grown locally. The tomatoes smell like tomatoes, taste like then too. Go to Publix and try that hot house and get back to me. Same with many other veggies.

What is amazing is that you really believe the crap you say.

Ignorant people think they are helping people by spraying cancer causing toxins on their food.

Here's what I don't get about this topic. Where do people get off telling others what they should and shouldn't eat? It's like they have some need for affirmation from complete strangers that what they're doing is "right". It's like some kind of mental illness.

I couldn't care less about your eating habits and certainly am not going to pontificate on a fishing forum about what I think you should eat. How 'bout you all just shut the eFF up and do whatever makes you happy and leave the rest of us alone?

    Hummmmmm.....

Not everyone can "grow their own"....and do you actually grow wheat and process it into flour to make your own bread?

...and what do you feed your cows to get milk?....cattle to get beef?......pigs?....chickens?

.....and I guess that somehow you are going to "teach" people in our major cities how to grow their food?

    ...Where?

I don't drink milk. Cows can eat the grass. I don't eat pigs. Chickens can eat whatever they want to as long as its not the veggies.

I'll bet 1000 bucks you can't feed yourself for a year without getting something from a store. Organic or not. When was the last time you grew anything in enough volume to feed yourself a balanced diet? In an ideal world organic would be great. But the fact is the bugs will destroy 2/3 of what you grow.

Even though I put a lot of time and effort into it, it dosen't even scratch the surface of what it takes to feed my family of five.

It off sets the house keepers expense, gives her or you something to do.
Fresh grown is very nice, you can't get that at the store most of the time.
