Imperial River questions

I am a on foot angler and I have fished all over Bonita beach,Lovers Key and waded trough Estero Bay, I have recently started to fish at Imperial River park and I know it is brackish water, the question is when would snook and juvenile tarpon be in this back water fishery?

Soon. Most rivers are better in the winter, when the water cools and the saltwater creeps up the river further. When this happens snook and juvi tarpon make their way up rivers to winter over in deep canals and creeks. I'm sure there will start to be more fish over the next few weeks in there.

I kayak fished the imperial river last winter. Caught a few snook last winter there but it was my first season fishing the imperial River. On most of my trips last season I saw Juvi tarpon rolling but I never got even a touch on the fly rod.

I have some thoughts on where there may be some shore access. PM if interested.

There are juvenile tarpon in the deep area west of there near the old trailer park. You will need a boat though or trespass on the old submerged dock at the former He Man's Woman Hater's Club. The baby snook are on the north side in the trees, which also does you little good from there. A kayak would be a good idea.

Oh and you missed the hole at "E"'s. Which also holds tarpon.

First winter in Bonita Springs coming up for us. Been having fun fishing mostly Estero Bay between New and Big Carlos up to now. Wondering if we should put our 21 ft bay boat in at Imperial River boat ramp and try to fish somewhere near that in winter, or better to stick to the bay with that size boat and not knowing how or where to fish the river? Any ideas?
