Has anyone used one for their dog ?

Found out our female Dobe has Congestive heart Failure, along with tumors in her lungs and another growth. Started breathing shallow and fast. Heart rate is up too 150 - 190, EKG was all over the place. Rather than leave her there I found a service that will come to the house. They cover all of Florida now. We do want her buried in the yard. Should I say wife and daughter do. I am mixed on it... Certainly don't want to bring her home like our male from the vets... Felt too weird...

Last night was pretty bad with her gasping for air a few times. It has progressed over the course of a week. That fast, was going to take her in Saturday and made an appt. Monday for yesterday visit to vet... 3 weeks ago she was fine, started drinking a little extra water. She was in the vets 6 month for a urinary tract infection and they did X-Ray at that time, all was good. She is suffering badly and we won't wait... An added 150.00 on top of vet visit to do it. But it will be a lot better for her. She hates the Vet and gets scared...

Anyway, it is tonight or tomorrow... Sad time for sure.. Will be staying away from well bred larger dogs. Maybe it is just the show quality Dobes and danes. I don't know, but 7 and 8 years of life for 2 dogs is too short.
Bring the dog over. I'll put it down and bury it for you for 59.00

I took mine to the county Animal Control headquarters, dropped her off at the back entrance, and they took care of it for free. Asked if I wanted to watch. Now, why would anyone want to watch that? Drove around to the front and picked out the new one.

Our dog, one of the litter of a German Shepherd that was rescued from an abusive owner, hated the vet. It was comical and pathetic to see a 95# GS start quaking whenever we got within a couple hundred yards of their office. After a hip replacement, and then a bladder infection on top it at 12 years old, we decided it was better for him to be put to sleep, but didn't want its last moments filled with terror. So we made arrangements with our very accommodating veterinarian to come out to the house. The day before, I dug its grave, and the next morning we brought the dog out to the back porch and put him on his favorite rug, all the while giving him treats. The vet shows up, and contrary to our well thought out plans, is immediately recognized by our dog who starts to growl and get agitated. Better to get it over with so I restrained him and the vet comes right over and administers the injections. I recall being amazed at how fast the sedative took effect. And in less than a minute, it was over. I placed his rug at the bottom of the grave, laid him on it, then took a last look and covered him up. Then there was my Mom, Stepdad, and myself left blubbering on the back porch.

Funny how recalling this event in detail gets me choked up some 25+ years later. I was 8 when he was born, and 20 when he died. He wasn't even our choice. Took him back after he went ballistic and jumped through the window of the house of the family we sold him to. But thank God we did.

Didn't buy another dog until 10 years ago when my kids were little and I wanted them to have the same experience of a family pet that was a little more interactive than our house cat. Now our Siberian Husky's 10, in good health, one of the kids is out of the house, and another halfway, and I'm contemplating how, in what I imagine will be a few short years, the scenario will play out again.

I think you're way off base.

Best we can tell by his post, the man has a pet. at the end of its life he takes it to get humanely euthanized, and then picks out another the same day from an animal shelter. Who are you to say his grieving process for an animal, albeit a family pet, should be the same, or somehow measure up to yours.

If that's truly the case I agree and apologize.
