I don't think you understand how background checks work....let me explain it to you. More background checks simply means more people are purchasing guns from FFL dealers. No conclusions to draw, it's a straight forward fact.

A background check is only performed every time someone without a conceal carry permit purchases a gun. More background checks simply means more guns being sold to people going though an FFL dealer.

I don't think you understand how to read a graph ...

think about it ... is this a true statement or not ? the graph illustrates is that background checks are increasing yearly ...

now explain what else the graph represents and how you arrived at that opinion ...

Mandated by the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993 and launched by the FBI on November 30, 1998, NICS is used by Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) to instantly determine whether a prospective buyer is eligible to buy firearms or explosives. Before ringing up the sale, cashiers call in a check to the FBI or to other designated agencies to ensure that each customer does not have a criminal record or isn’t otherwise ineligible to make a purchase. More than 100 million such checks have been made in the last decade, leading to more than 700,000 denials.

When I was a young man of about 19 I once suffered a bout of road rage
in which i dragged an old lady out of her car by her hair and threw her to
the ground and kicked her in the gut. Not proud of it. But she was driving
like a **** and had it coming. What do background checks and carry licensing
have to do with that? Nothing. Road rage is rampant here because of all the
old ****ers and ******s and spics driving like ****. If you don't have a gun
you'll just use whatever's handy, like a bat or a tire iron or your boot.
I have never seen live bones, but I know that they are often used by rich people to decorate the interior.

you did not answer the question I asked ... why not?

number of years on one axis ... number of background checks on the other axis

The graph only illustrates the increase in the number of background checks ... what else does it illustrate?

explain what else it illustrates ...

you will not be able to

Wrong. Road rage is rampant because of a lack of patience and intolerance of the fact that not everyone drives like you do.

Likewise, simply moving out of the way could relieve a lot of rage.

After all, you do not know the reason the other driver is in a hurry.

We'll have road rage whether we have guns or not. The underlying problem is the notion of entitlement. It's a clash of generations. You have one group who feels entitled/empowered when they drive a certain way that impedes others, and the other group who feels they are entitled to NOT be impeded by anyone (or else). It's usually the latter group that loses it.

Obviously there are exceptions. Maybe 1% have a good reason. There is no reason for the other 99% of incidents.

Yes, but let's not pretend the former is not intentionally provoking the latter. Simply moving out of the way - changing lanes - or having general common curtesy for your fellow man could go a long way at preventing escalation.

Both types act invincible in their vehicles - like the rest of the world doesn't matter.

"Reason" is up for interpretation. It really shouldn't matter, if someone wishes to travel faster then you, for any reason, why not move? Are you the law? Are you on safety patrol when you go to and from the grocery store? It really isn't your concern WHY they want to go fast.

If someone is tailgating you, don't hit your brakes to show them who is boss. Speed up and pull away, then change lanes.

Road rage is caused by much more than just slow people in the fast lane which is obviously what annoys you.

Cutting someone off, following too close, etc.

People have lost their minds. Someone cuts you off or flashes their high beams or honks their horn and you somehow think it's ok point a firearm at them and then pull the trigger with the intent to kill them?

in Europe, dipping your lights when behind some one is considered a polite way to say I'm passing you...
or please let me pass...no harm, no foul....on coming says the polizei are around the corner....

even here in ms, no one takes it as rude or aggressive, just a polite way to let someone know the law is up ahead, or please let me pass, or at a multi-way stop to signal "you can come ahead, i'll wait...

I never get offended by some one flashing at me....

Sure it is annoying. It is also illegal. The left lane is for passing only.

    It isn't rage worthy though.

Was simply an example. It was nice of you to understand that and carry on a meaningful discussion.

If you are going to cut someone off why don't you make the extra effort to get up to speed too? Why cut someone off only to slowly get going? Some drivers act as if once they take possession of a lane nothing else matters.

Someone following to close? You could move out of their way? They probably want by. I'm sure they did not set aside their entire day to get in their vehicle and tailgate you.

Like I said previously a little common decency from both parties could go a long way.

Same. When I was taught to drive at night you always flashed your lights a couple times when passing someone at night on a two lane road to let them know. During the day a couple beeps on the horn as you were passing was the norm.

    Never any issues.

That you were young and foolish and if you would have had a gun you may have used it and be someone's girl in prison and would not have been able to write this post. I don't recall Reading recently in the paper about road rage incidents in which the gun did not get the user in trouble and I am pretty sure that after the hormones and anger go down they probably regretted what they did. Once you kill, there is no turning back

Obviously all this is true. My point is that in the end, it is anger and people who can't control themselves because they have been delayed or feel they have been disrespected is what causes the incidents.

So in your opinion no fault goes to the one intentionally holding up traffic to make a point?

Not fault enough to deserve to be shot and killed. This is reserved for murderers in prison.

Reminds me of a guy who stopped almost in the middle of Hagen Ranch in Boynton Beach. People passed blowing their horns and giving him the finger. I stopped...angry,,,and asked him what was his problem in a not friendly tone. The guy (old)became dizzy and felt he was going to pass out. Smart enough to stop the car and not pass out and hurt someone. Paramedics came and took him to the hospital.

Thank you for your classic example of showing some common curtsey for your fellow man. You just as easily could have blown your horn, shook your fist and kept on driving. Instead, you knew something wasn't right and went out of your way to see what the problem was and I'm assuming sought help when you realized it was serious.

    :beer

But had it not been serious and the old man was just being a pr ick, you've already admitted it made you angry, which goes on point with what I've been saying.

I'm probably one of of the only people on earth who have actually whooped two people's **** over road rage incidents. Don't judge me... I was in my early 20's, and in the right. They both got out and rushed my truck first. Thank God that they didn't come out with a gun, and thank God that I didn't choose to use mine.... (I have had a gun in my truck or on me since I was legally able to do so at the age of 21...) A good beating served them both right. A gunshot wound may have been a bit too much...lol... Two separate instances...

Health issue can lead to many of these by accident. Diabetics reaction, a Stroke, medication, etc.. I seen it happen too and now try to be a little more patient... Think that comes with age. I remember being 25 and everyone going faster than me was cRAZY, everyone slower was A sUNDAY dRIVER !
