Road rage shootings...

What in the heck has gotten into people?

Seems like you hear of a road rage shooting and or death at least once a day.

Are they really on the rise or is it the media looking to boost ratings?

People down here drive like idiots and other people are stressed out of their mind.

About a year ago I had a guy get out of his vehicle because I accidently flashed my lights at him in at 3pm in the afternoon on the way home from the kids school. I was in my wife's vehicle and when I use the turn signal sometimes the brights go off. Anyways he slammed on his brakes in the middle of a residential road and came running about half way back screaming if I flashed my lights again he'd "put two in your head". I politely told him to shut the **** up and get back in his car. He proceeded to take two more steps towards my vehicle as I was drawing my colt from its holster. He quickly ran back to his vehicle and drove off. About a half mile later he pulled off the road in to someone's yard and had his hands in his face, crying I presume for how sour the situation could have been.

I think if everyone worried more about themselves and what they are doing and less about everyone else around them the world would be a better place.

The sad part is that its everywhere now.......
  • People have lost their minds. Someone cuts you off or flashes their high beams or honks their horn and you somehow think it's ok point a firearm at them and then pull the trigger with the intent to kill them?

if everyone just listened to good, clean, family Christian radio stations.... there would be less violence on the road. I stand by what I said.

It's the end of the world!!!! :willynilly....really interesting to see how the media influences our hysterical population with their "if it bleeds, it leads" reporting.

Now for some facts, and not baseless emotional response.

Here are the just released FBI violent crime stats for 2014.
    Overview

In 2014, an estimated 1,165,383 violent crimes occurred nationwide, a decrease of 0.2 percent from the 2013 estimate. (See Table 1/1A)

When considering 5- and 10-year trends, the 2014 estimated violent crime total was 6.9 percent below the 2010 level and 16.2 percent below the 2005 level. (See Table 1/1A)

as background checks increase violent crime decreases ...

Is there a point of diminishing returns ? could we eliminate violent crime with adequate background checks ?

All your graph demonstrates is that, as more honest law abiding citizens are purchasing guns in this nation....violent crime is going down.

Criminals with intent to commit crime go through different channels to get their guns.

    .

all the graph illustrates is that background checks are increasing yearly ... any conclusions drawn are just opinions

The fact that violent crime has dropped from 1.25 MILLION offenses to 1.165 MILLION
May look good in percentages...........but by the numbers, it does not make me feel any safer

I don't think you understand how background checks work....let me explain it to you. More background checks simply means more people are purchasing guns from FFL dealers. No conclusions to draw, it's a straight forward fact.

A background check is only performed every time someone without a conceal carry permit purchases a gun. More background checks simply means more guns being sold to people going though an FFL dealer.

    This ^^^^

A guy that I work with gets IT telemarketing calls quite a bit. He usually entertains their pitch to see if he can get anything out of it for free. Well lately, he has been getting very angry with them, telling the caller if they didn't take his name off of the calling list, he would track them down and cut his/her throat. Kinda makes me worried about working with him considering I share an office with him. He's very passive aggressive.

The people who accelerate towards stop lights are the same people who suffer from the road rage mental illness.....they also probably beat their family.

Having a concealed weapons permit has nothing to do with background checks. Purchasing a firearm from a FFL requires a background check regardless of your license status.

For Florida you are correct. However, since we were discussing NICS background check numbers at a National Level, I through in that caveat since some states don't require a NICS background check for people who have already gone through the background check and approval for conceal carry.

Federal law requires the instant background check when purchasing from a federally licensed firearm dealer.

One thing Florida does have that most states don't have is a waiting period of 3 days (individual counties can extend to 5 days) to take possession of a legally purchased handgun unless you have a concealed weapons permit.

Quite ridiculous if you ask me.

The uptick in violence is a direct result of the intense temperature increase on Earth caused by greedy corporations and The Man.

It's like putting a rorch in a microwave and clicking the "10 MINUTES" button. Sooner or later it's gonna explode.

I like reading the Florida Southern ultra conservative republican forums and linked news letters... i.e. Florida sportsman off topic section...

Examiner is a real piece of work and following that type of stuff directly for ones news is like the Germans listening to **** circa 1933.. Had so many good things to say about Germany as a nation and bad things to say about the other parties and a group of people within the country that needed removed. Directly compare it to the fight against the other party here and the Mexicans coming over the boarder. No difference...

But ! To each his own and all those opinions need to be expressed... I for one can't just blindly follow rhetoric...

****'s failure to recognize global warming as a threat to the Reich eventually led to his ultimate downfall.
