Home Ten Thousand Islands General Fishing & The Outdoors

Early morning flat calm

Put the Maverick in at sunrise, no wind and flat seas. Tons of tiny bait everywhere and some larger mullet, I didn't see any "just right" bait, but that is ok, I fish arties anyway:) . Found this fat redfish with a Spook Jr. the very first thing on an outside point. I musta had the drag too tight on this 9 pound fish, 5 of the 6 hooks on the trebles had straightened. The 6th was stuck into the very fleshy part in the corner of its mouth (lucky me) and I had a hard time getting that out. Water was brown even 1 bay inside and further back it was strictly coffee color and sweet. Found one snapper in the back and lots of the large mullet. Back at the ramp by noon.
By the way, the Maverick is up for sale....
