We were over there in July and found the area just east of the cut to be really fun. As you come out the inlet, hang a left and look for the tourist snorkel/ dive boats. We went past (east of) them about a 1/4 mile and anchored up in about 10-15 feet of water. The reef line was well marked on our chartplotter.... just look for the shallower water. Lots of YT snapper that were like puppy dogs following us around. We will certainly go back.
