Friendly bet that Baylor has a higher AP ranking at the end of the year than tOSU.
5 to 1 on 50$
What say you?
No one in the last 10 years who started #1 in the Coaches poll has gone on to end the season #1 FYI. Pretty sure I saw today that USC was the last team to do it in 2004?
If anything I should get 5:1 since the historical odds are greater than 10:1.

Top preseason teams have gone on to win the championship 10 times in the 65 seasons since 1950, or 15 percent of the time. The last preseason No. 1 to finish the season No. 1 was Southern California in 2004.

Nice try... I am not taking the field. I am taking a team that is not even favored to win a conference that was left out of the playoff last year.
Is it the UM game that is scaring you?
I am also not saying tOSU has to win it, they simply have to be ranked ahead of Baylor at the end of the year.
You are really scared of this bet?
Shocked.
Not really. More MSU than UM, but either way I'm not sure we run the table this year. Incredibly difficult to do back to back years, which is what was so impressive with Meyer's 24-0 in 2012-2013. But you know that.
I really wouldn't be surprised to see us stumble at VA Tech again.
I'm not entirely sure on Big Ten rules either, but we MAY not be able to loose a game at all to anyone from the EAST and still make the championship game. I know previously that the Big Ten would need send the same team back to back years to the Rose Bowl, but I'm not sure how they figure the Big Ten Champ game representatives. For example if we do beat MSU - who doesn't lose to anyone else, but lose to UM - the old days would send MSU to the Rose Bowl as the Big Ten representative since OSU would have went last year. It's possible that under that hypothetical MSU plays in the Big Ten Championship game and not OSU. I'd have to check.

I don't think it's worth giving up 5:1.
I'm not sure how far we slide if we don't win it all. Say Baylor finishes 6 and OSU goes in to the playoffs at 2 and loses - for the second loss of the season - it's likely that OSU falls behind Baylor that way.
The only way I could confidently take your bet is to think OSU wins it all or at minimum does not have a regular season loss - maintaining that #1 ranking all year.
I'm not 5:1 confident.
I'm not even really even money confident, but I'd give you action on that for funs.

In summation... you agree that Baylor will be ranked higher than tSOU at the end of the year.
You sure have changed your opinion in the last few weeks... I may need to pull some quotes. lol

Pull all the quotes you like Zimm Jr.
I've never said Baylor will be ranked higher than OSU. Fact is OSU likely has the best team going in to the season and a very favorable schedule. There is no reason they should not go undefeated until the playoffs and maintain the #1 ranking until then.
But history says **** happens. Complacency sets in and players don't play with heart. It's easier when you are chasing something instead of being something. That is one of the reasons the run Saban went on is so remarkable.
I simply don't like the bet enough to give 5:1. I can get better action for my money.

It's a bannable offense.

In a separate thread not long ago Zimm said the exact same thing, to you I think.
"Don't make pull some quotes!!"
Sound just like him.
I've been pretty consistent I think. OSU on paper should win it all. The historical odds say it is unlikely. I like to place my wagers with at least break even odds in the long run, so giving you 5:1 is pretty laughable as I outlined the reasons in previous posts. Generally I like to get odds and steer clear of bets where I am asked to give them. I can always find something better for my money then giving odds.
I have never eaten a booger in my entire life. -Jim Harbaugh
But you give me odds because I am dumdum, remember?
You keep bringing up "winning it all". That is not the bet.
The bet is tOSU, the team everyone has as the hands down best team in the nation, to finish ranked below Baylor, BAYLOR!
I think Baylor will be ranked higher once the dust settles.
You keep bringing up "winning it all". That is not the bet.
"Winning it all" may not be the bet, but for all practical purposes it might as well be.
I told you I'd take your bet straight up with out odds. It's up to you if you want to do that or not. Right now we don't have a named starting QB and will be missing 4 star players at least the first game.
This is what I mean by there is better action out there for my $250 side of the bet. I'd rather split the $250 and buy these teams to win it all:
Ohio State 11/5 For $113.63
Alabama 7/1 For $35.71
TCU 15/2 For $33.33
Auburn 13/1 For $19.23
Baylor 15/1 For $16.67
USC 15/1 For $16.67

What say you?
So who are you gonna blame this one on?
Are the coaches from all over the nation also bias?
The sound in the Swamp Donkey Lair this season. :wink
Same sound coming from FSU fans during most of the UF FSU game when ya'll almost lost to a very bad team
