King fishing off mayport

Going out of mayport on Thursday and was looking to get into some kings. I usually fish up in North Carolina and we normally use dead cigar minnows and troll them around nearshore reefs with good luck usually. Basically just wondering if that method will produce fish down here or if I should be doing something different. Any help is appreciated!

That usually will work also- most people cast net pogeys and slow troll them in the same fashion but with near shore temperature drops- locating the pogeys have been difficult. Once out on the reefs & wrecks, you can also sabiki up some live sardines & cigar minnows.

Take some sabikis ...plenty, because the cudas will eat em.....and jig up some live bait on the reefs and wrecks, and fish with those.

You'll get sardines and cigar minnows mostly.....and they have been excellent baits as of late. !!

Slow troll them just outside of the schools that you get the bait from.

We heading out of Mayport on Thursday also... I hear the Pogeys are back.. we shall see.

Heading out of Mayport Thursday morning as well. Will be on 68/71. Going to look for pogeys first, either polls or nassua sound, haven't decided, if none there headed out to wrecks.
