Lake Harris trip

Have to visit the mother-in-law's this weekend and figured a good way to get out of the house was to hit Lake Harris just down the street and fish. Never fished there before but am intrigued by this little "river" between it and Lake Eustis (see screenshot). I also like the fact there is something called "Bassville" just north of there(?).

Just gonna do some plastic worming...maybe a swimbait or two...

Should I be THAT intrigued? Or should I just go somewhere else and not worry about it?

Just go and have fun. Your're talking about the Dead River. There are some interesting areas along the banks but there is a lot of boat traffic in there. You can get stay out of it behind the lily pads. The area is developed including resturants on the Dead River. There's a lot of water in the area that's all connected. Plenty of places to catch fish. Good luck.

A good place in early spring and there are some canals off of it that can be good during the spawn. Right now , better hit it real early before the heat and the traffic.

Are you shore bound or have a boat for this trip? If you have a boat harris can be good this year if you like flipping or swiming jigs. There are a surprising ammount of fish in the tall sparser grass (sorry my botany sucks) in the main lake harris.

Will have a boat. Not a 70mph sparkle boat, but it will get me to where I need to go. I'll be sure to check the grass. Thanks!

The deep holes outside of the "springs" near Howey in the Hills neighborhood used to be good in the summer. Crome Rattletraps or carolina rig lizards were always my go to bait.
