Push Poling for Big Reds in Homosassa
We started the day out in Mason Creek and worked south toward Chassahowitzka this morning, with a high morning tide we got deep into the back country to a flat that is very active and holds big Redfish. We push poled a flat in less than a foot of water and got hooked up pretty quick, our first Red of the day was a slob 27" on the dot tournament winner on a swim bait, the Red was pushing 8.5 pounds. We came to an area that had a slight trough down the middle of the flat and hooked up to 31" Red that wanted nothing to do with boat and made some screaming drag runs. We ended up hooking up with 6 big Reds of soft plastics. I love Gag Grouper and scalloping season opening, it leaves alot of room in the backcountry for us to roam around with little company. It was a great way to spend a day off of work. Hope everyone has a Great 4th of July weekend, and see you on the water.
