Fishing Miami.

This past weekend my brother, a friend and I took a guys' trip to Miami to fish for exotics. We took our kayaks with us so we could explore some of the canals. We managed to catch quite a few peacock bass as well as Mayan chiclids and oscars on artificial baits, shiners and even a few on fly. Great weekend hanging out, exploring, and eating Cuban food.

My wife and I are planning a day trip down there and we are going to do some peacock bass fishing. Any ideas on where to go / things to see? We were going to hit the coral castle too.

lil jim miami airport lakes/tamiami canal has plenty of peacocks. Google earth it for shoreline access and focus on bridges and hard structure. This time of year the bite is tough, live bait may be necessary. I've caught some real nice fish this last week.

Nice work! Did you guys see any midas cichlids down that way. They are usually brightly colored in oranges and yellows. Them, Oscars and the jaguar cichlids are next on my exotic bucket list. We get the mayan cichlids all the way up here in Stuart but not the others.
