Wade fishing in Destin........searching for a little advice

In Destin all this week on family vacation. Won't get the boat out for some offshore bottom fishing until end of the week. Since I'm an early riser, thought I'd do a little shore wade fishing early in the mornings before my wife gets up & we head to the beach with our granddaughter for the rest of the day. Went to the base of the Destin bridge this morning and wandered around the shore toward the Coast Guard station & then on the other side all the way to the edge of the jetties. No luck. A lot of June grass near the shore. Talked to several other folks & none had any luck. Haven't wandered around there since I was a kid. So, not sure if it's even worth the effort.

Anyone have any advice and/or recommendations on some wade fishing spots in Destin. Just trying to kill a few early morning hours this week. Catching is only a bonus.
