Jupiter 5/31: Smoker King and Bottom Action

Woke up at 6 and looked at the radar and decided to wait for a window to go. Cleared the Jupiter at the crack of 8 and looked for bait but didn't expect much being late. Didn't get any and cruised to get outside the rain and set up inside the ledge off the pier. Planned to make an easy trip and only bottom fish and drift sardines on top. Hook up into a few grunts on the bottom and then miraculously caught a tinker mackerel on the bottom. Set him out with some hardware and not even 10 minutes later we are on. See its a big fish and into the box goes a smoker king. Went 45 pounds on the scale. Pretty nice to have a good start on the first drift. Continue messing around on the bottom til 1 with not much to show for. Had a big bull shark cruise up to the boat and had cobes on it. Threw a sardine at it and my big spinner started having line peel off. Set the hook and find its not the target species... After about 30 mins fighting up comes a smaller shark. Not what we targeted but oh well. With not being able to produce much on the bottom other than the file fish we hit the barn with what we had. Time for some fish dip!
