Launched @ 6:50 with 2 dozen shrimp, water temp 82 and light east winds.
Straight to the beach and throwing a chug bug.
Long story short, between the girlfriend and myself, we had 4 keeper trout before 7:40. Largest was 21".
Went through Blind Pass and got a couple smaller mackerel and a jack.
To the Morgan River throwing a blue Yo-Zuri.
Had some large trout flash on it but no takers.
With that, switched to the shrimp under a popping cork.
Got 3 more keepers and 2 right at 15".
And a few lost at the boat.
Once the shrimp ran out, we were done, 11:30.
Recap:
7 keeper trout, largest were 21 and 19 on topwaters.
The rest ranged from 16-18.
2 mackerel
5 short (6") mango's
2 sheepshead
and the obligatory trash can slam with jacks, ladyfish, hard head and sailcats mixed in.
Along the beach, many, many 3-4 foot wide rays. In bunches of 5 and 6.
Pretty sight and lots of "smoke" in the water when they spooked.
And 1 manatee.
A good day on the water.
Lastly, not all the trout were kept. Left the shorter ones for later in the year.
