Stupid poll, anyone with any sense would rather shoot a younger buck because everyone knows a mature rutting buck is inedible.

Give me a 140lb buck over a 75lb spike any day. By the time I'm done aging the meat, I'll have twice as much as you and it'll be as tender as a baby's bottom with oustanding falvor.

    ^This.
Preparation, cut, and cooking techniques have far more to do with tenderness then does the age of a deer.

IDK, every single buck I've ever killed that was mature and chasing a doe had a funk about it, never had that problem with a younger buck or doe. Never had it with a mature buck that was not rutting either.

Stop getting tarsal gland stink on the meat and you'll never know how old or what sex the deer is you're eating.

There's a good reason all the t.v. pro's donate their buck meat to the needy and shoot does for their own freezer.

    Poll is slanted...
I am glad to only be a bird hunter with bird dogs...being a shooter or dog handler or whatever other niche exists to separate appears to generate far too much about which to worry.

I'll shoot anything without spots first to get the stink off, then I "MAY" get more picky.

I killed 2 spikes last year. they were tasty. I wanted the meat and it was easy pickins. Also the area I shot them in had a brown and down policy so seeing anything with more than a fork on it's head was not likely. But there's no doubt that the area in which I was hunting could benefit greatly from APRs.

Itch, this poll is slanted and worded similarly to the waterfowl poll we got a few months ago. Both designed "take" from my "take" with innocent enough but crafty language. Nicely done!

That is like asking a nerd in high school if he would rather get hooked up with a flat chested girl or a very well endowed woman. The nerd would be happy with a non animated girl.

We all must remember that while some here are quite accomplished at putting meat on the table the average hunter struggles. I can tell you that for a long time if it was legal it was coming home. I now get a little more choosy or limit myself to a bow during gun season. I can tell you that if you let it walk on most WMA's the next person will most likely not. I love to take people out who have never gotten anything or kids. I would never impose my goals on them or they would quit in no time.

I will support any hunters right to be happy with any legal game.

I would prefer the opportunity to harvest a deer based on population dynamics and not the inability of others whose hunts are unsuccessful when attempting to obtain their own trophies.
If you think that I am going to be apologetic, then you are wrong.

I am "No" deer slayer by any means. I am knowledgeable and have a great understanding of conservation.

I shoot a couple of does every year for the freezer (always a neck shot). If I do shoot a buck he will be over 4.5 years old so more than likely I will give the meat to my camp buddies. Not that I wont eat an older buck I just don't need to.

Your odds may be better than the average hunter shooting a big buck.

If more big bucks start running around and more people start getting them how hard is it going to be to get one mounted. May be time to go to taxidermy school.

Not slanted just a simple question and results are showing what I was trying to prove to BIN

c'mon heitch not slanted... I was starting to believe you had some cred's with the work your doing on the other site, don't embarrass yourself here now.

Here's another one you could start.
Would hunters rather have 10 bucks in their pocket at the end of the day today, or 100 bucks at the end of the day.

There is much to be said and learned from in a two question survey or a survey that only offers to answers to the question. It eliminates the neutrality that should be an option.
By building your survey as such, one is forced to choose between two extremes and therefore is more than likely going to answer akin to what you, yourself has a desired outcome.

Example: Families were surveyed as to their preferred mode of transportation for their families. The questions asked were. Would you prefer a single bicycle? or Would you prefer a mini-van?
Buy building a survey as you did, the majority are most likely going to choose the bigger bucks. What you have failed to realize is that you didn't account for those in the middle and therefore they didn't answer either question. You are foregoing the demographics of the available participants and not getting a realized factual sampling.

Look at the total number of views on this thread alone. Subtract the posters after multiplying that number by two. You will see that there are still many more who chose not to answer the questions. More than likely because of the options given for answers.

Wouldn't any deer hunter in their right mind choose a 10 pt over a spike? The poll is laughable. Ask me if I'd like a chance to put four or five does in my freezer each year without driving to Missouri or Ga.
