Not Giving Up on Mosquito Lagoon

Until last week, I had sworn off Mosquito Lagoon for a while. My last few trips produced no to little fish, the water quality was not good, and with summer coming assumed to be getting worse. Boats all over with boats not giving other boats any respect/room to fish. I actually avoided the Lagoon for 2+ months. I went Monday last week by myself. It was nice to fish alone as I had not done that in quite some time. Although the water quality/clarity was not very good, the fishing was excellent. I ended up with double digit reds between 33-39" with one going at 41". Only one fish in the slot was caught all morning. All fish were caught up on Tiger Shoals at different spots. Lots of big tails waving in the air early in the morning. Water was warm so only took one picture with a Red that extended a tad over both ends of a 36" fish ruler. I had trouble but successfully revived the first couple fish. After that I left the fish in the water and removed the hook so I could get them back swimming faster. Lots of big drumming males. Finally an epic day to write about.....One more thing, lots of articles on spinner baits in the fishing magazines. I bought and threw one on this outing. I got one trout, a 33" red, and a small flatty with the one spinner bait. Never thought about a spinner bait being good for the flats but it worked out nicely on this trip...
