PC 5/22 & 5/23

5/22 - Had friends in town so took them out on Fri...smalls seas, but were
short and choppy. Trolled skirted ballys out to 250' with nothing, not even
a strike. Made our way back in to 120' and found a good weed line with the
most fliers I've ever seen!! I told them to be ready and all we got were a
few toothy critters cutting our ballys. First time in a while we've came
back empty handed (but that's fishing and better than work).

5/23 - Fished the tourney, so we hit the ramp by 5am and headed NE to 110',
good weeds and fliers so we put the spread out. Had two guys that never
have been trolling. Within 15mins had a decent dolphin hooked up and
wrapped up in multiple lines...long story short, after a slight fight, the
fish was gone with my islander. I was bummed, but the guy was thrilled he
hooked a fish. Several short strikes all day out to 200' and one little
tunny was finally brought in. Bottom fished some for the thrill of catching
some red snappers, black bass & remoras.

Hope others had better luck than we did!

I feel the pain of newbies. Everyone has days like that.

Newbies can be frustrating, but rewarding seeing them bring something over the rails!

Also as usual, 80% of all the strokes were on blue/white & pink/white ilander.

I was out there on Friday. I was alone so Trolling 4 lines was work. Especially with all the scattered weed. I dropped lines at 125 and got a cuda at 140. Trolled out and got a dolphin about 8lbs at 256. At 300 I gave up the hope of ever finding a good weed line so I turned home. Got a king at 140 also about 8lbs. Missed about 8 knockdowns. I also so the plethora of fliers. Rough wet ride home.
