I had the privilege of fishing Taylor Creek a couple years after they flooded it back in the early seventies.
Here's a small sample of the behemoths that grew at an unprecedented rate after the flood.

How did you catch those fish with that simple equipment? Today's pro-bassers, tackle & boat companies would despise that pic LOL.

Transparently, it didn't take much more than a pram or canoe, and a well placed cast to catch them back then. They were voracious feeders.
We fished the flooded timber, lilly pad edges, and hyacinth patches, and caught them primarily on 6" Rapala's and other assorted topwater baits, but they would hit anything thrown near them. The largest bass on the board (29" but not sure of the weight) was caught on a 1" bumblebee popping bug on a fly rod.
Can't imagine how many I'd caught if I had a half dozen white spinnerbaits.
