Starting Issue with 2006 75HP Etech

The problem I am having is sometimes when i turn the key to "Start" the engine doesn't fire. I do get the chirps when the ignition is in the "run" position but when I turn the key about 10% of the time nothing. 90% of the time it works fine. I just replaced the ignition switch thinking that might be the problem, but the problem is still there. I don't know if this could be caused by a linkage adjustment or if some type of interlock is acting up. Any suggestions on where to look?

    It could be several possibilities.

First would be a thorough cleaning and re-fastening of the battery cables and the battery load tested.

Check the operation and adjustment of the neutral safety switch in the control box

Unlike a car or older outboards, the 12 volts from the ignition switch does not go to activate the starter solenoid, it goes to the EMM which in turn, completes the ground circuit to the solenoid.

The starter could also have a bad spot but a voltage check at the starter terminal would confirm that.
