This may not sound like much....
But my son sat on the side of the bed yesterday, 3 times. He had some help but he fought the pain and did it. He is also moving his right leg and left arm when they said he might never get use of them again. This has amazed the health care pros in Blake Hospital, there were many who didn't think he would even be off the ventilator by now. When he first went in they said he'd be in ICU for at least 5 to 8 weeks, he was out in 3. He's fighting his way ahead of the curve and in having his final surgery to screw his tibia back together right now. Depending on how well he does after this they may release him to in patient rehab as soon as next week. This is fantastic news considering the first diagnosis was he may not even live and if he did 3 months in the hospital.
He will light up metal detectors like a Vegas slots jackpot but I guess he'll have to get use to that inconvenience.
