LITTLE TROLLING AND DEEP DROPPING 4-25-15 PE
Our plan was to troll out to a new area to deep drop. Alot
of weed going out.Start seeing birds at about 600 ft then
we see 3 birds together go over to them and theres a 8 ft
board with plenty of bait. Made a few passes around and not
even a knockdown. There was also 2 frigates in the same
area.Had enough lets go dropping get both Kristals set up
and start dropping in 980 ft. current was ripping at 4.5 to
5.0. Put on 8 lbs of lead.Tough to feel the bite but did
get 41 rosefish and a 15 lb barrel. The mahi bite was between
600 and 800. One boat found a pallet got 1 in the 20lb range
and 10 small fish.Few other boats had 2 or 3 fish.

Show a little restraint dude!
These fish are highly vulnerable to overfishing for several reasons with a vulnerability of 67 out of 100
They can live to an age of 43 YEARS!
When you wack a species like that you are taking that stock away from your grandchildren! Also, when you wack an area, you can completely deplete that rock structure for years in the future.
Slow growing, slow reproducing and a life cycle that can last for over 40 years!
Besides, who the heck wants to clean 41 rosies!
Keep posting that crap and the SAFMC will shut us down like blueline tiles.
You want a 1 rosie per boat limit?
Do us a favor and keep the pic to yourself then stand in front of a mirror and pound your chest!
Oh boy! So if there are 4 guys on board they each get 10 fish. How is that any different than say 4 guys splitting 40 yellowtail?
Good job Neal!!
You have to be kidding me we made a 10 mile drift catching fish not
one area.I had a crew of 4 so that was enough to feed their family.
Blame it on the PLASTERED CREW when rosefish are shut down.
Now get on your horse and ride off to the sunset and pound your
chest. DONT FORGET YOUR 38 SPECIAL
Good job buddy!!
:Popcorn Well said Ron.
Guys, I agree with [email protected], and here's why.
He stated it very well in his response. Rosie's grow slow living in colony's and can be over fished easily. Once they are gone, it takes many years to get them back - if they come back at all in that location. They aren't a large fish, so it really doesn't serve any purpose to load up the ice box with them. If you want to load up the cooler with fish, why not go for other species that are more prolific? (someone said Yellow tail - how about Muttons!)
I believe as anglers, we are all over-regulated, but, it's because we've been poor stewards of the fisheries. And, like it or not, it's this kind of thing (Me First, Screw You! attitude / mentality) that has caused it.
It's upsetting to see something you enjoy, (deep-dropping for instance) become threatened because of an uncaring attitude by some. I get where Ron is coming from and share the same sentiment. If we don't police ourselves, then there will not be anything for anyone else in the future.
I really don't see anything in your post to be proud of...
Instead of attacking him here, listen to what he's saying - it has great merit.

Deep dropping 20 years ago compared to today pretty much speaks for itself.DD pressure has got very heavy in the last 5 years. The blame is NOT on you or your crew, just stating a fact.Fish are still there but the size is not.Congrats on a good day
Ding Ding Ding
Agreed! As Neal mentioned, he had a crew of 4! How bout we put this thread to rest!!
