Port Canaveral community meeting regarding the proposed rail..

We need a huge showing from those who are against this proposed path.. For them to not even consider using existing infrastructure, the air force rail line, is really short sighted and not at all well thought out.. there are options! If you are against this project's proposed path, please do everything you can to attend..

I'd like to be there but live in Orlando so no way I could make the drive over from work on time. Couldn't someone from the forum speak for those who can't attend? There was just a thread about this that was overwhelmingly against more earthen burms.

I hate to be the pessimist.... but the Disney Port Authority doesn't care what any of us think, nor care about our environment. They(we) have alot of money riding on this expansion. Make a big deal, we are going to pay either way... but heck you can tell your Grandkids you tried!

Where's the enviromentalist when you need them!

The sad truth is, it's not really pessimistic, it's the realist view.. and it sucks.. considering they can just run it through the air force instead.. but the only thing we can do is stand in opposition every chance we get and the tide may be turned, you never know... and I agree about the enviros... CCA has been contacted by many of us with no reply back at all.........

They're all paid off! Corrupt scientist landed here when the shuttle left. This beauty(the space coast) is doomed the fate of Orlando and Miami. If I showed up at the meeting, they would haul me away! The truth hurts and I just try to ignore it to keep sanity. Grew up here, my family left the Everglades/Miami 40 years ago when it happened there. Watched the influence of Disney tear the forests of Orlando into pavement. Density means money.... and they will cut your throat if you don't follow the heard.

I was afraid that would be the case^ hate that I missed that meeting (got distracted by homework and completely forgot). I do and don't want to ask how bad it went based on these replies...

Sounds like a slippery slope to me, if this goes through then what's next?

I'm definitely not the most experienced inshore fisherman and my buddy sold his boat 3 years ago but of the 9-10 years I've been visiting Mosquito Lagoon/North Indian River in my buddy's flats boat (mostly, a few dozen times from shore) when it would work we all agree we've seen quite a noticeable difference. Grass dying off, algae blooms, some fish kills, very significant decrease in water clarity.....and THAT'S THE F$%@ING NATIONAL SEASHORE. Don't ask me, I'm just an inexperienced weekend warrior that lives a good deal west of TItusville...but it seems to be the generally consensus among ML fisherman especially that, for various factors, the lagoon isn't in great shape. Just my 2 cents worth, I don't like it.

Started out bass fishing (I can't anymore after being spoiled by the saltwater) and seen/got there right after/heard from friend/resident several of my favorite ponds go algeabloom-fishkill-dead pond. One I pulled a couple 35-36 5 fish stringers off the beds during spawn for a few years before it went

oh you hit it on the head... ML is in terrible shape and declining daily... the grass is literally receeding before your eyes..

    ^sad stuff right there... and that's only a year's difference.. 2013 to 2014..

F#@$. What can I do? I'm not local, have e-mailed reps in the past doesn't seem to do much good, automated responses if any

    A year's difference..............that's night and day.

Moderators - Please sticky this thread. Can we get a vote that 1) If you have fished the inter/intracoastals (especially ML) for several years or more, have you noticed a significant decline? 2) If Mosquito Lagoon was as developed as Miami, do you believe this would have a significant impact on the fishing/environment?
