My son asked me if we could try and catch some peacock bass last week since he has never caught one before. After doing a little research I figured that we would give it a shot so on Saturday so we headed down to the Ft Lauderdale area with an assortment of artificial baits to give it a shot. We bounced around down there from spot to spot and it wasn't long before we found a real nice one sitting on the edge of the shore line. My son made a cast to him and he hammered the bait. After a short battle my son landed his first ever peacock bass and it was a decent one at that. We bounced around some more and ended up going 4 for 5 on peacock bass and we caught a dozen or so large mouth bass. We also caught numerous Mayan Cichlids and spotted tilapias. It was a fun easy trip and some great quality time with my son. I still haven't got the picture thing figured out but hopefully Long can help me get a photo or two on here shortly.

jtluongo - We started in Davie and worked out from there just driving around checking out spots where ever we could park and find access to water. You could probably spend days in that area and not cover all of the spots where you can fish.
