Smart Trim Tabs

I have a 21 ft cc with 150 yamaha. Never had trim tabs but looking into installing some. Most of my boating in inshore or nearshore but I make a dozen of so trips offshore a year when seas 3ft or less. What are the drawbacks of smart trim tabs versus the conventional type? They seem so affordable and can be easily self installed. Seems too good to be true.

I imagine that you get what you pay for. If you want real tabs, buy real tabs, then you can do whatever you want them to do. Folks have both electric and hydraulics with strong opinions each way. I have Lencos with the feedback switch and like them a lot. I fish pretty much like you do.

If you are on a budget smart tabs are better then no tabs at all. Electric and hydraulics tabs are a lot better. I like Bennett hydraulics best have used them for over 30 years with no problems.

I've had both electric and hydraulic... I could care less as long as they are working.
