Swallow-tailed Kites and a Cara cara

eorlandoeorlando Posts: 560 Officer
Here are a few from last month. The swallow tailed kites are starting to hit the area in full force. This is only the second time I have been able to get pictures of the kites on their perch. It seems like all they do is fly ALL day long. On this particular morning I saw multiple birds on their perch's in the morning. At one point I came around the corner on a trail and jumped at least 10 of them off of a big dead pine tree. I sure wish I had seen them before they all took off. Oh well. As always CC welcomed and appreciated. Thanks for looking!

Yep, gotta say I saw one sitting for a short moment, but never was able to get a shot. Do you happen to know if the whole back of the Swallow Tail is black or is it just the wings?
    All great shots.

i have a shot or 6 of a mississippi kite that i took at at the usaf t-bird show in biloxi...
it was kind of weird, a friend of mine an i were watching the army golden knites perform when this kite comes easy down the flight line...
it was at a fair distance so i don't know how it looks since i've been to **** lazy to down load, or sail boat racing since...

    i might do it today...

Nice work. STKs are one of my favorites.

I always thought STK's were born flying and remained so for their entire lifespan. ;-)

I love them. The only CC I'd suggest is to lose the watermark and retain the EXIF. :wink

Love the Caracara pics. I love the Kites too but see them all the time (not perched though, a treat.)
