I'm in the market for an entry level DSLR, and am looking at the Pentax K-50. The weather-resistance is a plus for me, as most of my photos will be taken out in the elements. Anyone have experience (or an opinion) on the camera?
There are kits available with weather resistant 18-55 and 50-200 lenses, or with a 55-300 lens that is not weather sealed. I'm not sure I'll need the 300mm lens, especially as it's not WR. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

As a "consumerish" camera many of the parameters are buried in menus but if that doesn't bother you then do it.
It is a great buy at current prices. Truth be told you really don't need more than 16 Mpix, which this camera has.
One thing to consider is Pentax doesn't have any really long glass. If you don't need a 500mm cannon then I say go for it. Sigma does make a 50-500mm super-telephoto zoom some people are happy with, though, FYI.
Pentax say their way to a 1/6,000 shortest duration shutter speed which is nice and faster than Nikon/Canon low end offerings.
Buy it, play around with it a while, then come back here and we will help you get off of "Auto" and onto "manual, aperture, and shutter."
What is the point of you buying the camera? Stated another way, what will the camera be pointed at?
Here is a review from a page I trust. >>>> http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/pentax-k50/pentax-k50A.HTM
