Watched a show on sportsman channel last night where they were fishing for Pirhana, they said it is very good eating.
I was just curious for some first hand experience if anyone had ever eaten any. What does it taste like, which Florida species would you compare it to?

I see nothing wrong with that. What could possibly happen?
No, it will taste like specks. Pay attention!
Hiahleah angler is gonna get mad at that statement
Just make sure you don't feed it Omaha Steaks. :grin
This was the actual show I watched.....managed to find it on Youtube.....they look like giant bluegills....would imagine they would be tasty.
If you don't have much time, start watching at about the 3 minute mark....he's fileting the Piranha, and loses the tip of his finger to a bite....Crazy!

Very Nice! Looks like flaky white meat. Seems like you did some sort of Amazon basin trip?
Don't know what he's talking about. That Look's Terrible.
Cool, thanks for sharing.....that type of trip is on my list as well.
Any good outfitters you can recommend?
I am spacing the guys name right now, but I will look it up when I get home and post it up then. It will be well worth the cost to do it. The Amazon is truly amazing, the wildlife is through the roof. The remoteness of the place is perhaps without comparison. Friendly people, particularly the natives you may encounter out on the water. There are some tribes that are not friendly, but the good guide services know who they are and where they are and stay away. The variety of fish, weird-weird fish is also amazing. Most people target the low water season so they can throw the big top water plugs and flies. When we were there the water was still unusually high, which meant we were fishing in the flooded jungle, only occasionally were we in a position to cast the top waters and mostly were flipping jigs in the flooded jungle. It was intense to have a 15 pound peacock latch onto your jig after a 15 foot cast/flip.

The agent we used was in Atlanta and I believe he split time between here and somewhere in FL, I will post his contact info later on.
