I wish UF could oversign and grey shirt like UT and Bama. Maybe our new prez will OK that in the future.

I do not think oversigning would be in the cards for Florida this year even if they wanted to.

    Over signing is ridiculous.

Anyways, I don't get excited about signing day. Some 5 *'s bust and some walk ons turn out to be stars.

    2016.
Actually feel UF will do Ok this year.
Think about it . Bama oversigns about 6-7 every year. Then about this time every year they process out 6-7 players that haven't panned out or don't fit in.
This amounts to what would be 24-28 players every 4 years-- in essence an additional recruiting class every 4 years.

How'd you think Butch got 56 players his first 2 years.

There have been a couple who were given the black and white reality regarding their future opportunity with the team and they have chosen to leave. Personally I think that is for the best if someone has their heart set on playing time. The vast majority of the room the VOLS have had for the above normal sized signing classes was the result of the washouts Dooley and Kiffen left us saddled with.

Hopefully the lack of RB's plus the girlfriend in Gainesville helps the good guys. 😄

Hoping for some good news for UF on signing day. Still can't see more than a 18-20 player class. Getting Scarlett tonight would sure help.

Or maybe he ain't skeeerd, but likes McElwains's history with RB's better.

Scarlett will have a lot of depth to work through at FSU. I see UM being his best option, next would be UF, then FSU. UM has a lot of great RB's that have played in the NFL.

There and Bama-- Heisman winner as well.
He has had 1000 yard running backs with 1000 yard receivers at every stop.

And he did. I was a little concerned that he visited the Noles last this past weekend and they thought he was theirs for sure.
But he obviously had a good visit with McElwain and RB Coach Skipper. I was told that Skipper would be an ace recruiter and he hasn't disappointed so far..
I will say I don't trust anything until NSD.

Good pick up for the Gators. There are now plenty of bodies at RB, TE and OL to work with. The staff gets to prove their worth and coach them up. OL will still be the toughest job. We probably need 3 rookies ready to go on the 2 deep chart.

Gators up 24 spots in one day on 247. Reports of our demise were premature.

What did I say that was false? How was I trolling? I actually predicted him to UF once he decommitted. UF is also the favorite to land 2016 5 star WR Sam Bruce now....come down bud.

This is all fact, and hands down one of the many reasons why he chose UF.

We would've loved to have his talent, however he isn't as big of a need this cycle. You obviously always take a top player in the state when you can, but we NEED a DT, a LB and a few DBs much more than Scarlett.

Give me Fitzpatrick (bama CB) and Beckner (Mizzou DT) and I'm as happy as a pig in the mud.

Losing Scarlett to UF is essentially payback for UF losing Dalvin Cook to us last season. I'm okay with the backfield of Dalvin Cook, Ryan Green, Jacques Patrick (best RB in the state AND an EE) and Mario Pender. We have a pretty stacked backfield, hence why I mentioned the DEPTH CHART.

Great get by UF. I would have rather seen him at UM though :wink

You really like your current OL situation? it's pretty bleak to be honest. Y'all NEEEEEED Martez Ivey, who i think you'll land but a stud OT is exactly what the Gators need IMHO.

Well, when you're starting at #101, it's quite easy to jump the likes of Air force and eastern illinois...

    Sayin' :driver

    Congrats on the pickup though!

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Who did Michigan land? UF did grab one of the best players in the state.

FSU stole UF's best recruit (George Campbell) who was an EE and a five star WR.

UF just stole UM's best recruit, and a big target for FSU in Jordan Scarlett...

    *Ahem* may I also add:

FSU has a better recruting class signed up AND on campus, enrolled in classes than most teams will have all year and/or sign in the next 2 days. This is a true statement that applies to all teams not named Alabama, USC and Clemson.

FIVE, count them FIVE different 5 stars already on Campus. Derwin James (#1 overall DB), George Campbell (#5 WR), D'vante Phillips (#10 overall WR), jacques patrick (#3 RB nationally), Josh Sweat (#2 nationally DE). Add to that a 4 star QB, MR Florida and another 4 star DB.

Good thing you got that group. Because it appears this group of coaches at UF know how to recruit. 2016 will be finally competitive when it comes to recruiting.
I will say-- in some cases out of necessity --but in other cases hidden gems-- we have gotten a few 3* guys that show great upside. One was a Georgia DB that we got over Michigan-- and another was an athlete that Shannon recruited from Texas that was a Kansas State commit( probably a big safety or a LB).
  • ZimmerNoleZimmerNole Posts: 9,243 Admiral
The coaches can recruit....and it's also Florida. UF will always get their share, I've said this many times. Best academic public school in the state, only SEC school in the state and a history of recent success that all these kids remember. It's harder to sell a school such as UM to a 17 year old these days.

Heck, even Muschamp managed a top 5 class.
