Grunt Queen day off, Capt Doug finds the porgies!

It was a little bumpy and didn't calm down as forecast, but we managed to find some above average size porgies. Doug caught a whopper to end the day. Got a couple muttons and a hogfish.
We were surrounded by young pelicans at the cleaning station. I think their eyes were bigger than their stomach, but it was fun to watch them fight over the carcasses, dragging them around the parking lot.

If you're feeding pelicans, that always means that you had a nice day in paradise!

Just as a PSA, please don't feed pelicans your fish carcasses. They are unable to swallow or digest the larger bones and spines. Many of them die each year from choking on carcasses. I believe FWC just actually sent out a PSA in the Keys addressing this specifically.

Thanks and good job on the stud porgies.

When your porgies make you question the legality of your muttons, you know you're in them. Nice job.

That's true. The bigger mutton was 20". Big porgies fight hard!
