Soap opera happening at IMG Academy

Larry MacLarry Mac Posts: 5,466 Admiral
UF OC Nussmeier meets with FSU QB commit today Deondre Francois. Afterward IMG OL coach tweets that Francois has indeed decommitted from FSU. Shorty after that Francois was sent to the principal's office ( LOL bad boy!) at IMG to meet with IMG HC, Chris Weinke, former FSU QB. LOL. More surely to come.
Francois tweet which has been removed stated he was decommitting from the University of Florida State.
So is he trolling like Cook and Lane from last year, or trying to change his mind and decommit from FSU? I guess we know by Wednesday..

Now his buddy is saying that someone hacked his twitter account. Not that I know what that is or how one would "hack" it.
  • Larry MacLarry Mac Posts: 5,466 Admiral
So the OL coach passes on in his tweet what Francois tells him-- that he has decommitted from FSU.
Weinke later tweets that the OL coach does not speak for the program( is that because he NO LONGER is the OL coach? LOL.)
Jaques Patrick then tweets that all is well-- "that wasn't Deondre. Someone hacked his twitter account."
  • nole76nole76 Posts: 804 Officer
I thought the original "tweet" was from Francois himself?
And now Francois is saying that someone hacked his account. Guess that's that...

I used to love high school recruiting. Unfortunately social media has grown men hanging on every word that a 17 year old athlete says. It's sad on all accounts.

Agree 100% and I'm guilty of it, "Oh shooooot....did you see what "so and so" just tweeted?!?"

The worst are the people being REALLY mean and crude to 17 year olds on twitter.

Francois could easily end up at UF, it would be a huge commit for the Gators, he'd get immediate playing time as he is MUCH better than Treon IMHO (many Gators would agree). I think he may stick with FSU, but who knows. According to Francois someone grabbed his phone and tweeted that out, not a traditional "hack" as you guys are thinking.

It's a social media term. If I leave my FB up on my computer and people come over, one of my idiot friends hops on and changes my status to something ridiculous....I got "hacked".

    51% but that's good enough.
If he didn't panic, he might have flipped on NSD. Got sent to principals office and Winky applied the pressure.

There was no hack job. He told the OL coach who tweeted the confirmation.

I've seen Treon play a few times in high school. His entire offense (skill guys) were all 5'6"-5'10" and could FLY. I mean FLY FLY FLY. When Jimbo offered him as a QB, I thought it was a win-win for everyone. Treon would be coached by a great QB coach, and Jimbo basically had a new sports car to play with.

When Treon flipped, it just didn't make sense on any level. It's amazing how where these guys sign on the dotted line can literally change their lives.

If he has any intelligence he will be able to go to UF, if the kid is stupid as a bag of rocks, he is going to FSU....either way he plays football...win, win.....hopefully he has brains to go with his tallent...

And I did not come up with this classic quote, I wish I did, but here goes.....

The one thing that all FSU and UF students have in common, they all applied at UF first.......

From my prospective, so what, just because your not smart enough to get into UF doesn't make you a second class citizen, it's the very choices that you make in life with your diminished intellect that make you a second class citizen. After being notified that you will not be attending UF the world does in fact stop. The great shame of not making it in to the hallowed grounds of the mighty gator nation where legal riches await both young men and women in a laid back country club atmosphere. Study, learn, relax, party on, the UF way of life. Unfortunately your not comming on that party barge, you didn't get in stupid. You are now stuck with a life changing, even altering event. Where to go ? Well as with most people who just got knocked the flip out with one punch in the very opening of a fight, you scrap your rear off the floor, clean yourself up, live with the embarsement, and smile. You are now going for saving face, the number 2 plan, the fall back educational system that will save face. At some point in your grand search and rescue, you, the student have come to the very conclusion that your not even going to be accepted into the local community college. You have zero choice but to concede, it's FSU or nothing. At that miserable time, you, the way fairing student has made the life changing dicision to become a second class citizen. The world needs more ditch diggers, burger flippers, ect...

RB was much, much, much more articulate.

The GED program at the local correctional facility has obviously failed him.

RB brought the facts. This could be Tree's alter ego.

Hard to see Francois coming to UF when Weinke has that much influence. I'd be happy just to get St. Louis out of there.

Looks like St. Louis going to the U from sources I heard. Unless he's trying to create a surprise for NSD. I think Francois was thinking about UF( read soap opera post), but he got hammered on social media in addition to his meeting with Weinke. Probably should have waited to NSD.
Lamar Jackson is 50/50 with UF and Louisville. Probably just as talented as Francois but not as polished. But think he is better than Treon.( both as a passer and runner IMO)

Obviously Weinke has ties to FSU, but I have never met a high school coach (and I have met quite a few of them) who actually steer kids to a particular university. Obviously someone like Weinke can provide a unique perspective, as can the dozen or so other high school coaches in Florida who played for UM/UF/FSU.

Oh, and if we are going to let 5150 stay, we might as well open the flood gates for Tree and RB. Why the hell not?

Prior to this situation with Francois, Florida coaches have said Weinke has been fair.

What did 5150 do btw? He hasn't posted much

IMG kids have gone all over the country, Weinke obviously shares his love w/ FSU openly but also wants his kids to have the best experience for "them". He has been very impartial since the get-go

We also have EG Green on the IMG academy coaching, when he left FSU I believe he was the leader in WR TD's and total points scored by a WR.

I chat with someone who used to coach at IMG. He knows what happened at the episode the other day-- does not want to mentioned because of the very slight chance he still may flip. Will let you know after NSD. EG green is also at IMG. Huh?
Dabo just went in and secured a commitment from a 2016 IMG WR. The best (Savion sp) is still available.

Looks like UF just picked up a No Mercy Percy Harvin part 2......5-10, 220 lbs of blistering speed....given the **** poor time frame that new UF coach has been given to recruit, the new coach did ok....may have just up the "ok" to "nice".
The new coach has huge ground to plow and sow before he can catch up to FSU or UM, let alone USF, or UCF.
Actually the schools I have in order would be FSU and UCF, Then UM, USF....Not putting UM down, it just seems that the school has shifted away from sports somewhat, actually what has been allowed to happen to the canes is down right disgusting.
I'm not even sure this years UF class ranks above FAU, but at least it's a start. Work from the ground up.
I'm not to excited about the new coach as of yet, but we shall see.
From day one I disliked Muttonchump, that second year season was a clear fluke of biblical proportions. God clearly has a since of humor.
Year one, three, and four, your outta here seasons were what I kinda expected from him.

Well UF got a new coach, fingers crossed, UM is still working on its progress, and lord have mercy, FSU got embarrassed by blow out. What a season.
