Structure nearshore around port canaveral

I'm not looking for secret spots or anything but I'm wondering if there are any public wrecks (obviously no reefs) within a few miles of PC. We fish a 20 foot pontoon boat with a 60hp motor so I don't feel comfortable running more than 5 miles offshore where we can see land. We have loads of fun messing with sharks/tarpon/jacks/boneheads off the beaches but would love to get into some mangrove snapper and maybe even grouper. Does anyone know of any wrecks that are closer to shore in this area?

I wouldn't ever suggest running a pontoon offshore, but there are plenty of wrecks within the distance you are asking about. Just get a top spot map from local bait shop. It will give you lots of numbers.

Alright thanks, I know a pontoon isn't a great idea offshore but when your mom gets to pick the boat and is convinced she'll throw parties this is picked over a Center console. We make due, I'll look at getting a map now for sure

I have seen pontoons at PA#5 on flat summer days. The reef is over fished but she still holds some surprises.

We have no problem with the seas on summer days, it's just that we lack a vhf so we usually play it safe and stay in cell phone range and within site of shore. We might invest in a radio but we'd still like to stay as close as possible to the port. Thanks for the help y'all.

The buoys. They hold a lot of good dish

I would say fish the buoys. And I would certainly invest in a VHF, even if its just a handheld.

there is a small wreck right by the 3 mile buoy never caught much off it other than bait.

i was going to mention that, there are fish there that will tug a line...but dont have big expectations.

Cobia season is coming up you will be able to sight fish for them. You can catch Cobia with in a few miles of the
Cocoa Beach pier. Get a VHF radio you will get help faster then calling 911. With a radio you will get help from boats around you. Call 911 and you will be waiting for a longer time for help.

If nothing else we can use that wreck to load up some more livies. The quick help is our main reason we would get a vhf for sure.

FWC websight lists all public offshore Artificial reefs. Noaa also has a list of reefs and obstructions.

Are you taking about "D" can?
Never get but a small scratch on my machine and little bit of hard bottom. How high is the relief?
