Fished the inlet with my Dad on Saturday. Got a 29" red first thing in the morning, early in the outgoing tide near the tip of the north jetty. Once the current got going, we went inshore but found nothing but bluefish. Went back out to the inlet at the end of the outgoing, about 1:00, and saw other boats already hooked up. From about 1:00 to 3:00 we caught 6 black drum from 22-25", as well as a sheepshead and a flounder through the slack and beginning of the outgoing.

First time with Ipilot features in the trolling motor and spot lock is an awesome feature that I'd highly recommend

Not a bad day. How were you fishing when you got the red and drums? I'm new to fishing down here and plan on fishing Cape Canaveral area next week. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I love that spot anchor in the I pilot. Bought one just for that feature. Nothing worse then hauling anchor from 90 foot when fishing alone in a rocking sea. Thanks for the report.

everything was on shrimp on the bottom; red hit one on a jig head, everything else on a pretty standard sinker rig with a 1/0 circle hook and 1-3oz of lead, depending on how hard the current was running. I don't do any fishing around cape Canaveral, but I'd guess sheepshead and black drum would be the hot coastal species down there, too.
