With the cooler weather I thought I would take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk. Worth a visit if your in the neighborhood.

Did you see the bobcat? Also, there is a rare (for the eastern flyway) bird there for about three weeks a Yellow-headed Blackbird.

Baits Out

One of my favorite places. That and the Wakodahatchee Wetlands nearby, and which I marginally prefer.

One day I slowly went up to a cormorant perched on the railing . . . talking to it low and calmly, "Corm, did you get some fish today?"

She actually let me touch and "pet" her. The winter visitors were all standing around silently and
taking slews of photos.

Another time at Green Cay I saw this fairly large gator going under the boardwalk.

Approaching from the opposite direction was a little boy about 8 years old.

I said, "Did you see that big gator?"

He said, "Where?"

I said, "Look over here." as the gator was slowly coming out from under the boardwalk.

He looked and then yelled, "MOM! MOM! MOM! A GATOR!"

Made my day!

Also had another fairly rare up-close encounter at Wakodahatchee with a pair of Egyptian Geese.

Absolutely beautiful birds. Knowing a bit about geese in general, I didn't push getting too close.

Again, lots of others taking photos.

Looks like a nice place for a walk; wish it was a little closer to me. Nice story Baits Out. Electro, go find that bird WE is talkin about. !

Toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many snowbirds getting in the way. I remember when it was half-way lonely there.

You drive yourself to mile post 96 on I-95, I will meet you and drive the rest of the way. I will take you to four places you will not believe. Bring plenty of memory cards.

Talking about the bobcats is like talking about Fight Club... You just dont do it.... Green Cay musta had 50-60 cars yesterday at 4:30....
