Mote Marine Lab Teach-A-Kid Fishing Clinic Needs Your Help

Please help spread the word concerning our upcoming Snook Shindig Teach-A-Kid Fishing Clinic coming up on Saturday October 15th. We have the Gulf Coast Community Foundation helping us to raise funds to
sponsor 40 underserved children to attend the event. We hold the event with a total of about 110 kids ages 6-15. The children gain hands on experience at stations including: spin casting, cast netting, fly casting, fly tying, tackle and knot tying, being an ethical angler, Gyotaku fish printing, kayak fishing demo, and fishing in the pond at Mote Aquaculture Park for snook, tilipia, bass, etc. We stress conservation and stewardship of the environment as well as enjoying fishing as a life long pursuit. We have volunteers from all areas of the state that donate their time to help and local and national businesses (Fish Florida, **** Sporting Goods, Addictive Fishing, Rusty Chinnis Contractors, Petland and many others) that donate items for the children to take home (rods, reels, tackle, educational materials, etc.). The Sarasota Sportsman's Association members donate lunch for the children, families, and volunteers at the event.

We have raised about $1,400 on the site so far, if we do not raise the target amount of $2,200, the funds donated to the Gulf Coast Gives Program go back to those that donated. We have until October 2nd to reach the goal.

We also need more interested volunteers to help at the different stations at the event, if interested email [email protected] or leave a message at 941-388-4441 x 303.

Here is the Gulf Coast Gives information:
Mote's latest project is still available for donations at the Gulf Coast
Gives site (supported by Gulf Coast Community Foundation). Please take a
look and help us spread the word. We are still shy of our goal of $2,200 to
send 40 under-served children to the Teach-A-Kid Fishing Clinic at MAP.

Thank you so very much for your time and consideration, Carole
