There's a lot to like about McFadden. One of the most important things is to realize that he is not a finished product. Almost 6'3, he has room for another 15-20 pounds on his frame. And that's scary, considering that he is already a physical player.
I asked McFadden what his strengths are, and he said size and length. I agree. It's clear on tape that McFadden presents a physical challenge for opposing receivers and passing games. When he plays with good balance and leverage, he can use his long arms to extend and jam receivers quite well. I do want to see him bend more frequently when he presses so he can be in a better position to turn and run. He shows the ability to do so, but must work on the consistency. He will also become even better in press coverage when he puts on additional muscle.
McFadden has better bounce in his step than some would expect for a defensive back of his size. He shows good quickness and hips for a player of his size, but those, along with his top-end speed, are simply OK or good for the cornerback position. This is part of the trade-off a defense makes when it decides to go with large corners. But this is the key: He has good enough hips, acceleration, quickness and change of direction to be a 6'3, 210-pound cornerback, whereas many players his size simply do not and must play safety.

Please look at the last 3 Gata classes... All top ten, look where that got them. Also look at UT last few classes, top 15 and they suck too.
Half of these kids don't end up having the grades and the other half will flip back and forth a few times prior to NSD.
Nov is time to enjoy the games... I can understand following it in the summer but not now.
He is a 5* and the best cover corner in the country. A true shut down DB
If the Gata didn't have monkeys coaching these kids up maybe the results would be different.
Lol, typical.
If they had gone anywhere else they'd be 5*
1. It's the most important aspect of CFB, far and away.
2. Squandered classes? Look at the coach, same thing happened towards the end of Bowden's reign. Coaching can elevate 3 star kids to 4/5 level and bad coaching does the opposite. Look at all the 5 star kids from last year that attributed to FSU's big win last night.
3. When a five star kid commits, it's news regardless of the school.
He is rated the 4th best CB in the country, 28th recruit overall and the 2nd best CB in the state.
The guy is huge...big, tall, physical guy. Love the commit.

IMO the amount of attention 'crootin gets is a joke.
The list of 5* star players who don't do jack in CFB is long... As is the list of 3* or below who are great in CFB.
I may have a man crush on Dalvin Cook, dat boy good!
Most impressive? Ermon Lane's blocking! He had the key block in every one of Dalvins big runs...

I guess he is better than all of the other 5* recruits from years past at that position.
Yeah.....
