A shackled accused cop killer on the lam for seven weeks was booed and jeered as he was led Friday morning into a Pennsylvania courthouse for his first hearing in what prosecutors say will be a death penalty case.
A gaunt and bloodied Eric Frein, dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit, appeared before a judge in Milford, answering yes or no questions but not entering a plea to murder and other charges.
“Are you sorry? Why did you do it?” furious onlookers shouted at the accused killer as he was paraded into court.
The 31-year-old survivalist led law enforcement agencies on a 48-day wild goose chase through the woods of the Poconos after he allegedly shot and killed Cpl. Bryon Dickson and critically wounded Trooper Alex Douglass outside the rural Blooming Grove State Police barracks on Sept. 12.
