10/16 LK Patch Reefs and Backcountry

Got out on Thursday morning, decided the winds had died down enough it was worth going out front to test the patch reefs in Hawks. Patience rewarded the boat with quality yellowtail in the 15-16" range. Throwing artificials back into the chum slick for macks gave one lucky angler a nice 17# yellowjack. Tried for more but there were no takers and the cudas started to chase baits in so we pulled anchor and moved to the backcountry channels. An outgoing tide brought fat bodied mangroves, cero mackerel, sharks, cudas, undersized muttons and groupers all to the boatside where they could be caught on cut bait, bucktails, live ballyhoo. The backcountry was absolutely crawling with life.

Looking to get out tomorrow for an offshore day. Any word on what's running at what depth? Would really like to keep some rods bent without dropping an anchor if at all possible. Tight lines.
